Rosa Parks: A Grand Lady is getting a Grand Send off....

It was heartening, sad, and celebratory all at once to get up this morning, turn on the television and see the thousands of people lined up to watch Rosa make her last trip down Woodward to Greater Grace Temple. There was cheering as the hearse drove away....choruses of "Bye Rosa!" and impromptu singing. At the Temple, by 6 AM, there were already a thousand people lined up for the 3,000 seats available to the public. As I watch, I am sad for the passing of an era...my father's era, yet hopeful, that it appears so many are rededicating themselves to working toward true equality for us all. Seeing the diversity of the crowd has inspired me.

1. Yes indeed, hopefully her legend carries on and we don't LOSE

rights under this hateful intolerant administration. We are the Rosa Parks of the 21st century, honor her and do not MOVE.

2. That is my hope and fervent wish. After Katrina, I feared we were

only paying lip service to civil rights. There is so much work yet to be done. How disappointed Rosa must have been to see that unfold.

I am grateful for those who continue to stand up and point out the hypocrisy of our ways to us. Those who force us at times when we would rather sit still and talk nice about things. :hug: So many people here have made me a better person.

i know that you are also dealing with some health stuff so i just notice all the more that you stand up (so to speak - ha) for all peoples
and i really respect that and love the impact it definitely can make

and yes we all can play a part in bettering the world were in but its those that actually do that i want to thank so very much
its rare that people see the pain and the need and just the everyday struggle that is outside their own lives
