Jaw-dropper from Hannity's radio show last night...
He had a fawning right-wing nutcase lady call in and complain about how Libby's lie wasn't really a national security issue. At least compared to some other guy (don't remember the name) who got off for stealing classified documents. Hannity of course dittos her up and down.

So what's the next logical step in this argument? Why of course, Clinton's blow job endangered national security. No, not the perjury afterward, the blow job itself! Gotta hand it to him, this guy is just a piece of work. The whole time he maintains his patented aura of "I'm just a reasonable guy". Wow.

He then goes into the predictable rant of how Fitz is an overzealous prosecuter and isn't it a shame how much time, money, and resources are being spent only to end up with this silly little perjury charge. Ironic that Michael Graham claimed last week that "for all the criticism Ken Starr received, you won't hear Sean Hannity smearing this prosecutor, oh no!"

Folks, you know what? Even if every single person in the White House was dragged out in chains today, we are still cooked. This hate radio crap is not going to go away, and as long as it fans the flames we are on the road to our downfall.

3. In the 70s, mid-Watergate
as the crimes of the Nixon administration became obvious even to the most ardent rightwing camp followers, Nixon's apologists were all marginalized--ridiculed and reviled. The same will happen to Hannity and Limbaugh, et al. When that which they defend becomes clearly indefensible, Hannity and clones will be exposed for the pathetic ass-lickers and propagandists that they are.

5. I hope so, but...
...I'm only cautiously optimistic. Limbaugh has survived a lot, for example, yet he is as influential as ever.

4. Hannity must be the most depressed man in this country.
Well, next to Tucker Carlson. Take a look at it from their point of view. They know they're whoring for the right. They know their comments, logically, are completely ass backwards. And after they're finished spouting this bullshit on the air they go home to what? Who are their friends? Not rational Liberals. Not the people that are stupid enough to believe what they're saying. I'm sure that neither Tucker nor Hannity have respect for those kinds of people. The only people who Hannity and Carlson could probably call friend, are the people on the right who are complicit in the fraud. And THOSE people will soon be on an indictment list.

So, Hannity must be the most depressed man in this country. Next to Tucker Carlson

9. I really do wonder about these folks. Do they really believe what they are
spewing or are they just liars? I'm not sure which is better to believe....stupid or evil?

10. I think that they accept the fact that they're actors or entertainers.
Ann Coulter once said that they don't take each other seriously. Don't you find that shocking that these people have such an influence over right-wing middle America, and they don't really believe in what they spout?

13. It's much easier to rationalize the damage you're doing when you can just
say that you're just acting out a part. I guess it's like Professional Wrestling,it's an open secret that it's rigged, but yet so many people still believe in the charade.

6. Hannity/ COulter/Rush etc only preach to the choir.
They don't convert independents. Yes, the hate radio is here to stay, but I don't think it is changing anyone's mind. Did you ever heard the phrase "I really liked John Kerry but then Hannity said..?" of "I thought what Bush did was really bad for America but then Hannity said..?"

12. I listened to limbaugh on the drive home
in the late 80's and early 90's. He converted me, against conservatism and its message of hate. The daily dosage of misinformation and disinformation pushed me over the edge. Prior to that I was rather apolitical, today I'm a flaming liberal and a proud card carrying member of the ACLU. And I no longer listen to the lunatic zealots whose only talent is to hate other human beings.

18. I guess I have the unrealistic hope...
...that some percentage of the choir could get deprogrammed if there was fewer Hannity's around, or if they were more accountable for what they said on the air.

19. Maybe so, but those so called independents DO listen and their
opinions ARE influenced by the spin and lies. If Hannity, Limbaugh and all the RW talkers especially well known senators and congressmen stay on the following messages:

-There was no crime
-Valerie Wilson WAS NOT a covert agent
-Scooter Libby is a patriot who has served his country for 30 years
-There was evidence of WMD's
-Joe Wilson is a liar
-Fitzgerald is an out of control prosecutor
-George Bush is a wonderful president
-Dr. Dean is a nut case
-John Kerry is a flip-flopper
-John Kerry was not a Vietnam war hero
-Democrats are tax and spend politicians
-Democrats are pro-abortion

eventually the drip, drip, drip, becomes part of their subconscious. It does influence their perceptions, and makes it very difficult for the opposition's message to gain ground. There is no counter balance.

15. Remember: six years after Nixon resigned, Reagan was elected
Even if Cheney and Bush are sent to prison and found to be pedophiles, the lunatics in the Republican Party will still prosper. Their message of cutting taxes, raising government spending, quadrupling the debt and kicking everybody's ass around the globe is very appealing to the average American.

I blame Americans more than I blame Bush or Cheney. Getting rid of Bush in 2006 or 2008 will not solve many problems.

20. While I like to think most are stupid
I think half of them are really stupid and the other half of them know what the hell is going on. Why do most people get so damn defensive about this war? I think most people who defend this war know what is up. They know it was all based on lies and while some of them were duped ,and don't want to admit it, some of them knew from day one (just like most DU'ers) but they don't give a damn. If you really know in your heart that you are wrong but don't want to admit you the first step is to become defensive. When your defending war and disrespecting the very people (military) you claim to support you get very defensive. No matter how much they try to cover your eyes you cannot get away from the fact that people are dying especially if you live in a military city. The only action they know of is to become defensive and hypocritical and without hate radio they wouldn't really know how to go about it.

Yes they are desperate because the yarn is unraveling. Underneath the outing of Plame is the very big lie of sending us to war. They know this but they want to wear their mask just a little bit longer. Actually if you look back at Republican presidents you see a pattern. My mother tells me about Iran Contra ( I was too young to really remember) well my mother told me Republicans were walking around talking about how patriotic Regan and his band of crooks were. Olie North is some kinf of folk hero to Republicans.

Actually you have to hand it to the assholes. Without the flag and false patriotism they wouldn't have anything to hide behind and they have been very good at abusing both. I say they can keep them both. I don't need the label patriotic all over me for the world to see. I know what I have done for my country and no damn flag or yellow ribbon makes a bit of difference to moi or my self image.
