1. No, he committed a crime all right
He lied to the FBI, he lied to a grand jury.

Not the acts of a good American, are they?

2. Well, that was really dumb of him, wasn't it?
Geeez, must mean he was hiding something.

Be nice if Congress would take it a step further and investigate.

7. I was trying to call in and 'splain it to ol' Insanity.
We don't know the full truth because, well, Libby LIED!! We don't know what he knew and when, at least not 100%. He needs to come clean.

OH! Another thing...Sean was repeating the BS that Plame was NOT covert. Seems Sean has trouble with reading comprehension since it's IN THE INDICTMENT!

18. OOPS
It's not in the indictment that she is covert. It says classified. Most CIA agents positions are classified but covert and classified is a big difference. I just want our arguments to be based in facts so people can't counter.

22. Fitz can't say she's covert in the indictment
Because it would be criminal to do so even after her "cover has been blown" (a phrase he repeatedly used).

39. The indictment says the original investigation had that in its mission
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 09:40 PM by txindy
"27. Beginning in or about January 2004, and continuing until the date of this indictment,
Grand Jury 03-3 sitting in the District of Columbia conducted an investigation (“the Grand Jury
Investigation”) into possible violations of federal criminal laws, including: Title 50, United States
Code, Section 421 (disclosure of the identity of covert intelligence personnel); and Title 18, United
States Code, Sections 793 (improper disclosure of national defense information), 1001 (false
statements), 1503 (obstruction of justice), and 1623 (perjury)."

It was the CIA who asked for this investigation. Somehow, I believe they would know what "covert" means and exactly which of their personnel qualified for that distinction.

Just to be accurate.

Sean, the jails are full of idiot felons. Irving "Scooter" Libby will just be one more in the crowd.

8. Kind of like lying about a blowjob, isn't it?
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 04:22 PM by StefanX
Only blowjob isn't a crime.

And outing a CIA agent in wartime is. In fact, it's treason and it's punishable by death under the Espionage Act.

Fuck you, Hannity, you fucking traitor-lover.

27. covert-schmovert
the outting of Valerie PLame resulted in the outting of the entire brass plate company..... we have to remember the results of their actions... according to Ray McGovern there was a post MORTEM report regarding this situation.

30. the indictment labels her as "classified"
... and in the press conference, Fitzy made a point of distinguishing that he was not calling her covert, but classified.

Now we'll need a CIA expert to give us the difference, but the SP was very clear in both indictment and spoken word.

Sorry Sean, that is not a rationale motive to lie. Presumably, he lied about a possible crime he thought he might have committed.

If he didn't do anything wrong, then why in the hell would he feel compelled to lie, not just once, but several times.

21. he lied under oath that IS the crime
even if he hadn't committed the crime (which I think he did) he shouldn't lie about it.

Thats the thing about this perjury thing, the fear of such a thing SHOULD promote truthfullness which will eventually lead to justice.

When he figures out that Sensible People Don't Lie About Crimes They Don't Commit

Either Libby committed a crime and lied
Or Libby is Protecting Someone Else (hint hint Hannity)
Or Libby is insane.

Take your pick

Then Irving's dumber than a box o' rocks. Will that get him his own show to host on Faux News? That seems to be the standard. Once he's released from prison, of course.

I heard him on the radio today talking to Gingrich, and he said Clinton wasn't indicted, and Gingrich had to explain to the fool that Clinton was impeached, which is what is proper with a sitting President. I can't believe I was actually happy to hear something Gingrich said!
