Rush: the withdrawl of Miers shows the strength of Conservative movement

Are they not including Bush in that movement anymore? Because it sure doesn't show HIS strength.

He said "the lefties" were fit to be tied over the Conservative far right takeover of the Republican Party. He said that was wrong, because the Conservatives ARE the Party. Now, does he mean NEOconservatives? Because I suspect there are a few PALEOconservatives who would dispute that.

Is there a place where the two come together? Is social policy where they come together?

All of which still seems to leave out Bush. His cronies don't seem to care all that much about social issues. Oh, he talks a good game and throws a few bones. But his closest friends in the WH are pro-choice.

I dunno. I did think that Rush sounded like he was trying to put lipstick on a pig though.

He also called the Senator from Louisiana "Baby Fat Landrieu".

So what's on his body? It sure isn't baby fat. It's just fat fat.

1. I find it amusing that Miers is rejected partially by the

conservatives themselves. They trash their own nominee, delay seating the supreme court justice, and weaken their position on their next nominee, but somehow that strengthens their movement? Only from the minds of freepers could come such logic.

It was an alliance of two factions: the sensible conservatives, who looked at her and said, "Wow, she's really not qualified. This looks like cronyism." And the far right wingers, who looked at her and said, "There's no guarantee that she will overturn Roe. She doesn't come with a rubber stamp on her that says Fundie."

I think in a weird way he's kind of right -- it shows the strength of the alliance of those two factions; together they stood up to the President.

But they certainly did make Bush look like a nimrod. No, switch that -- he made HIMSELF look like a nimrod. :D

support the next choice, especially if that selection is made to appease the Fundies, who've pretty much shown their butts in the last few weeks. With 2006 drawing nearer, with the White House becoming weaker, with the Fundie base becoming shriller, with the majority of Americans still believing in moderation, an extremist judicial candidate may not get a nod and a wink.

or they would have put forth that kind of nominee in the first place. Unless, of course, they thought having a minority or a woman was all-important. Guys, getting a qualified minority or female judge was the idea. I can still remember when Thomas was nominated; my best friend remarked that the Republicans must have worked hard to find such a mediocre African-American judge. ;-)

The christian taliban seems to be the only group left standing under their big tent .The fiscal conservatives have obviously been abandoned,all that's left are the social cons..Do republicans honestly believe that there are enough of them to keep GOPs in power?I don't think there is.I'm hoping they have shot their wad with the christian right and are about to come crumbling down.How large can their numbers be?I wonder what would be left of their party if the fundies abandoned them and lost their taste for politics.One can only hope we will find out in '06 and '08.
