I am alive . . . Thank God
I have no power from Wilma, but I am alive
I have no water due to Wilma, but I am alive

My neighbors lost their home, but I am alive
Trees are down and debris all around, but I am alive

I have to tell you that was the most horrific experience I have ever been through. Wilma was worse than Jeanne and Frances combined from last year. When the eye finally came over around 11am, we went back to our house (my husband & I stayed at his work) and saw destruction everywhere. We were one of 3 lucky ones that live in our Mobile Home Park. We have a home. 90% of the people that live there have no home.

I want to thank everyone yesterday morning for all of your prayers. My husband & I prayed and our prayers came true. My father who lives on Marco Island (ground zero) is OK. He has a little roof damage and a couple of windows are damaged, but he is alive. Take care and Big Hugs to everyone . . .:grouphug:

9. There is no power anywhere
They said 90% of Palm Beach County is without power (where I live). 95% of St Lucie and Martin Counties have no power. 90-95% in Miami Dade and Broward counties are without power. I can only imagine in the Keys and Collier County. My Dad still has no power in Collier County.

This was worse than anyone expected.

27. I'm here!
I'm in Miami and it was quite a wild ride.

We're fine - down trees, a little bit of roof damage. Mostly just a big mess to clean up. We just got our power back on this morning but I think we're the lucky ones. I haven't gotten out much but I've seen minor damage everywhere...streetlights blown away, fences blown over, trees - especially the big beautiful ficus trees - toppled. Long lines at the few stores and restaurants open.

The weather is beautiful - a cold front followed the hurricane - so everywhere people are running around with rakes and chainsaws, cleaning up. No power on in the city meant that we could really see the stars last night. We went outside and had drinks with our neighbors, everybody happy to see each other and full of stories.

30. The sky was AMAZING last night. You are indeed lucky to have power right
now. How is the water pressure where you are? I work in Florida City, and we can't use our bathrooms because we lost pressure. I HATE PORTA POTTIES!!!!!!!

Glad you're okay! :hi:

12. Glad to hear you're okay, RockaFowler. We got it bad in Key Largo, too,
but are fortunate enough to live in a poured concrete home. The trailer park behind us didn't fair very well, but everyone was able to find shelter elsewhere. Still no power at home, but my husband and I are blessed to work at a place that has to be fully functional at all times. I can tell you that I was never so scared in my life as I was yesterday morning between 6 and 9, especially when the transformers started exploding. We went out yesterday for a little while, helping neighbors clear roads, etc. What a shock to discover that the shingles I found in my tiki hut came all the way from the roof of Ganim's restaurant! I think I finally unclenched my jaw this morning. I was also never so happy to come to work as I was this morning because of the food, electricity and hot water!
 right back atcha!

We keep hearing how bad it is in the Keys. I think there was around 2 feet of water.

25. Explain this one, Pat Robertson!
If god was punishing poor/gay/black people, then why was the home of a LIBERAL spared?!

It's a miracle (to explain it in terms that the holy rollers understand), and the PTL's been rooting for the wrong team.

Glad to hear a good story to come out of this hurricane hell.
