sadly, tomorrow could be the end.

it doesn't HAVE to be the end. but, it may well be.

fans of Guy have known from the beginning that, until he can 'break' into a national slot, this show was listener driven and listener supported.

while many have supported, it just isn't enough.

the GJS has thousands and thousands of listeners on the internet... we only NEED 200 of them willing to contribute $1.25 per show... $5 for month of Guy James... 12 HOURS @ less than $.50 an hour.

DU has a HUGE interest in keeping this show alive.

Guy (BeachBuckeye) and Michael (JanMichael) are family here.

They have provided an international platform for DOZENS of evil informed, passionate DUers in every broadcast.

They have booked an extraordinaty roster of guests from WillPitt to BevHarris to Nancy Skinner to AWD and on and on and on...

And, what will life be without a weekly dose of 'republican love' ???

I just got off the phone with Guy. Things are SO close but... without another month or so of LISTENER SUPPORTED broadcasts... he simply can't sustain the show.

Guy is one of the nicest bastards that I've ever met, period.

He has spent tens of thousnads of dollars to get a REAL Lefty radio show going...

I was just a caller that had some passion, he accepted me as more than a fan, he made me a part of his gigantic effort.

He, and his incredibly nice wife, are like family to me now. They're simply THAT good.

This situation makes me physically ill. I'm not rich. every show means 8 hours for me, four driving and three on the air, and at least 240 miles on my 94 Nissan truck. That;s about $17 a show. I have so many nice things to say for the regular donors but I'm not so happy with the 20.000 other ONLINE listers that tune in every Saturday...Yet...I know they care about the great show that Guy puts out for them...

It either lives or dies with us.

talked his way onto the air - on a station playing mostly conservative talk, in a very conservative area. He pitched it, if I recall, by paying its way - which is why funding is so important.

Imagine the guts and savvy it took to talk the way onto the air in a conservative market. It was not a case of pitching an idea to which the manager would immediately say: that is a natural.

But along with doing in this way - requires self-funding the show.

If I recall correctly, Guy and a friend, who initially paid for it all, took on the additional expense (from their own pocket books and some contributions) - to pay themselves to get the show broadcast on the internet. That Vision required the blind faith that when we (on line listeners) could hear that some money could be raised from those new listeners.

That story is inspirational to me. Guy has made a huge financial commitment. Michael has made a huge time commitment (and financial - at a minimum when considering the cost and time of traveling to help with the show.

What Guy has done, is not about filling a void. It is about fighting against the odds, taking a huge faith walk that some money would come in to offset the costs... and just making it happen.

Kudos to Guy. I am glad to help in any small way that I can!
