Looks like Bush has hit the trifecta, again!
- Miers going down.
- 2000th soldier killed in Iraq
- Indictments for Plamegae coming very shortly.

I'm guessing he doesn't consider himself lucky THIS time around. ;)

1. Is a Miers defeat a good thing or not?
A rabid, frothing at the mouth knuckledragger might be the next choice on the list. Frankly, I was astonished that someone mildly palatable (at least on the surface) was chosen to begin with.

What happens when the real ideolouge is sent up next?

2. I'm with you.
It seems as though, in this case, we are better off with the devil we don't know.

5. I think there is a good chance this happens. Bush gets petulent when he
loses. The wingnuts stiffed him on Miers over qualifications. So he picks someone he knows they can't oppose over qualifications but who still pisses them off. It is exactly his style to do something like that.

6. It is good, if the Dems play it right. This is how our side could win...
Meiers gets withdrawn/defeated thanks to the fundies, bush nominates some nut like janice rogers brown, the Dems roll out a new case against the nominee and bush saying how "a small group of extremists have taken over the federal decision-making" (something Dean alluded to on sunday). The anti-nuclear option coalition agrees that she needs to be blocked, they all move to block her and force Bush to nominate a real moderate. Our side won on social security, our side could win on this one.

8. - 2000th soldier killed in Iraq
Whatever light it sheds on the President's upcoming downfall, this is nothing for we who oppose to celebrate.

9. Nope, not celebrating it. It's a terrible, terrible
tragedy. It's shining a light on something that needs to be said: Buhs must go.
