Also, more on *'s incredible shrinking approval ratings, even in this Southern stronghold. Holy moly, is the tide really turning? These numbers are pretty astounding.

:wow:

1. that's good because a hell of a lot of repukes, fundies, born-agains,
Catholics, etc etc etc actually do get abortions. ..all the time. They used to get more than the rest of us because they didn't use birth control. I don't know the current breakdowns but they are still getting them. They always say, "I don't believe in abortions but in my very, very special case....yadda, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah"....since the day it was legalized and prior to that also.

2. interesting post on Freeper thread
Sorry, I didn't bookmark it. They were discussing Miers and the overturning of Roe, when somebody brought up the fact that Laura is pro choice. Apparently, a reporter asked her how she and George can have such conflicting views on this subject. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact quote, but the gist of it was that she said their views are in "agreement."

The poster used this to make the argument that Bush is only anti abortion in "extreme cases", i.e., like PBA, that he just wants to throw them a few bones, and that if the religious right thinks that he wants to overturn Roe to end ALL abortion, they are whistling in the wind.

However, the bottom line is - who the hell wants to test this?

3. The country is shifting left. There is no doubt about it.
On issues polls, people are continually shifting towards the liberal posiiton on issues. Soon the Republicans will be overwhelmed.

4. I agree with that. Americans are fed up with being used and abused.
I still worry about the neo-con's grip on our elections. I don't know how many more we can "lose" before the police state cometh.

5. A lot of them are old and dying soon. I don't see many young people
going along with the homophobia and anti choice agenda.

6. That's a good thing
That will allow us to cut through that issue and get to the real issues in South Carolina. The GOP's tricks are starting to fail.

7. Real issues -
jobs, poverty, and health care? Wouldn't it be nice if Southerners finally starting voting for their best interests!
