Poll question: How concerned are you about the avian flu?
What level of anxiety do you have about a possible outbreak of avian flu and why?

Besides, we've got much better things to spend our emotional energy on, right?

5. I live where West Nile, and to a lesser degree,
Lyme Disease started. We survived, as did 99.9% of the rest of the population here.

14. I knew a bunch of people who got West Nile,
since I was working in a wildlife rehab center in Colorado. They felt like puke for a couple of weeks and then were okay. A handfull of very frail elderly people died from it, but it's not a big danger to the vast majority of people.

I don't know about the Avian Flu. Could be pretty bad, but I don't see another 1918 happening. They didn't even know what viruses were and how they were transmitted back then. They do now.

7. Bush can't even protect us from the flu, let alone terrorists!
I try to get my flu shot every year. Last year was the first year in the last 25 years that I was unable to get a flu shot.

9. Wasn't concerned until I read the article in the new Vanity Fair
about the inevitability of it spreading to humans.

Yikes.

12. Disease outbreaks have happened throughout time.
They're a natural occurance. Who are we to fight nature?

On the other hand, we have every obligation to fight the criminals and traitors who have led us off on holy crusades against innocent countries in a bid for christofacist domination of the Middle East.

13. Slight concern--it COULD mutate
but if one takes regular precautions like washing hands and staying out of crowds when possible it is bout all we can do
