Katrina, Federalism, and martial law--help needed
Hello all,

I'm wondering if someone can point me in the direction of a few articles that discuss Bush declaring martial law in New Orleans during Katrina, and how he attempted to bring the city under Federal control.

I'm doing a paper on Federalism and I'm interested in the conflict between state and Federal power that occurred there, though I'm not sure if I have my facts quite straight.

Also, if anyone can give me a link to Bush's comments regarding quarantining US cities with troops, that would be great.

It is truly fascinating looking over the Anti-Federalist papers. So much of what they feared about the constitution has come true under Bush...

Thanks a lot guys!

1. Do *not* rely on Wikipedia for any info
It's been thoroughly freeped with disinfo.

If I get a chance this week, I can try to go back to my notes and bookmarks but that was from posts an eternity ago in post-Katrina time.

An important point: Bush was insisting the Gov. Blanco federalize the guard, which would have required them to lay down their weaponers. Blanco, who was so freaked out by the media reports of criminality, hesistated then refused.

You can look at my archives from Sept on wetbankguide.blogspot.com for some links, but I don't think I ever addressed a post specificaly to this.
