A national voice is needed as well. A roar coming from the people. This is the voice that the world hears and for the last five years the * regime has been trying to suppress it. It cannot be contained.

There has been quite a bit of criticism of Farakhan on this board, some deserved and some dserved. But he implication is that he is not a worthy spokesperson for the people. In my opinion, he has a right be one of those voices. I didn't hear him set himself up as a savior. I heard him appeal to all people to join together to address the issues of poverty, corporatism, and corruption. He told us all to think outside the box and to go back to our communities and be instruments of change. He said nothing different than we have been saying on these boards from the safety of our homes. He said it loudly, in public, and it resonates. Truth resonates. Can any of us do better than to tell the truth. I will not denigrate a man for speaking the truth.

Can we do better than to speak the truth? At this point, if Balaam's ass were to appear, he can speak on my behalf, as long as it's the truth. Let's step out of the PR box thinking. Truth cannot be contained in a PR box. It needs to be spoken now more than ever. I think LF's speech was one of the greatest I've heard in my lifetime.

1. I liked a lot of Farakan's ideas
about the Ministry's of Agriculture and all that.

I think Jim Dean could be more visible, since Howard's hands are tied by leaders in Congress. Jesse Jackson is still a good spokesperson.

Who's the head of PDA and New Democrats? If they agree with some of the points they should be speaking out. Democrats need to form a shadow government of sorts, we definitely need our own media.

My hubby said Farakan was condoning Communism with his ideas. I don't think so. Sure social safety nets, but sounded like a network of communities helping everyone make a living wage.
