Feds admit FBI planted bugs in Philadelphia mayor's office - ?!?!?!?!?
Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 03:24 PM by nu_duer
FBI? Isn't that asskkkroft's domain, or one of his domains? The same asskkkroft that's investigating the bush regime for outing an undercover CIA agent? More misuse of intel? For sure. For election dirty tricks? Looks like it.

Why did I have to search so hard for this story - shouldn't this be
b-i-g?

Three federal law enforcement officials acknowledged that the FBI was responsible for the bug, but refused to comment on whether the Democratic mayor is a target of an investigation or to provide any details about the nature of the probe.

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Democrat, and Sen. Arlen Specter, a Republican, were among several politicians who called on the FBI on Wednesday to tell the public what it knows about the eavesdropping equipment, found Tuesday.

''I think given this extraordinary situation with four weeks to go in the campaign, it is incumbent upon the FBI to say why they planted the device,'' Rendell said.

The bug was found during a routine sweep of Street's office by police. Street is locked in a bitter rematch against Republican businessman Sam Katz, and the campaign has been marked by charges of threats and race-baiting. Election Day is Nov. 4.

:grr:

1. Same old, same old..Republicans can't win without trickery...
The repigs are getting set to take over PA the same way they did California and NY. Polls have been running against Gov Randell and negative newspaper articles fill the pages every day. Just what they did to Gov Davis. The repigs paid to brainwash the people until everyone bought their lies.

3. Now that would be sweet if we could track the decision-making to
Ashcroft.

4. Abuse of power?
We really need to understand what the warrant authorizing this wiretap is for.....smells to me like political eavesdropping and if that's the case, we really need to have heads roll.

5. Let's be realistic
If the FBI was bugging the Office for ANY reason other than a criminal investigation, they would not own up to it.

If it is a GOOD investigation of not remains to be seen but they have enough people to plant bugs that aren't connected to the FBI that if that was what they wanted to do, then they would.

The more we whine when something is questionable, then less they'll hear when the real crap comes to light.

6. I hope Mayor Daley in Chicago
is doing a "bug sweep" in his office...every day. These republicans are ruthless.
