11. oldleftylawyer is a civil attorney.
Believe me, as a former practitioner, a civil lawyer has NO expertise to offer on a criminal/prosecutorial matter.

Fitz has been smart enough to keep this matter "tight". He does NOT HAVE "AIDES" like the administration. However, there are numerous investigators and assistant attorneys and CIA/SS/FBI agents and paralegals who are involved in such an explosive investigation. There is also a far greater likelihood that "leaks" will occur as a matter matures.

There is absolutely no use in cementing any outcome. The pleasure is in the process. Investigation and speculation is for free but never dictates the conclusion.

He is not Starr.

on edit: but I feel some curiosity as to why you choose to begin such a rumor.

reaches of government.

Maybe they are inviting Fitzgerald to say that Cheney isn't cooperating or has threatened to suicide someone.

edit: read this letter from DEm leaders, also on Rawstory:

8. ya i just noticed that
hmmm..i wonder why? another bullshit headline that gets changed? sources close to is still bullshit. maybe the cleaning lady overheard one of the lawyers say "rove is ...." oh a source close to..
from everything i have read over the last several years about fitz is that no one would dare say anything from his office to anyone. if they did their career would be ruined and who would`t want to have on their resume that they worked for fitz? that`s a golden key to the corner office overlooking the lake front.

14. There's some good stuff in there...Conyers could use this!!
Fitzgerald’s examination centers on a group of players charged with not only selling the war, but according to sources familiar with the case, to discredit anyone who openly “disagreed with the official Iraq war” story.

The group’s members included Deputy White House chief of staff Karl Rove, Bush advisor Karen Hughes, Senior Advisor to the Vice President Mary Matalin, Deputy Director of Communications James Wilkinson, Assistant to the President and Legislative Liaison Nicholas Calio, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley and I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby - Chief of Staff to the Vice President and co-author of the Administration's pre-emptive strike policy.

<...>

Two officials close to Fitzgerald told RAW STORY they have seen documents obtained from the White House Iraq Group which state that Cheney was present at several of the group's meetings. They say Cheney personally discussed with individuals in attendance at least two interviews in May and June of 2003 Wilson gave to New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof and Washington Post reporter Walter Pincus, in which he claimed the administration “twisted” prewar intelligence and what the response from the administration should be.

16. I wonder how much leeway Fitz has
If he could use the Plame outing to get into all of the prewar lies created by the WHIG and printed by Judy it would expose this house of cards of an admin to the entire country in a storm worse than Katrina. Even wingnuts don't like being lied to.

oh please, oh please, oh please

the story is now updated on Rawstory:

Vice President's role in outing of CIA agent under examination, sources close to prosecutor say

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Cheneys_role_in_outing_of_CIA_1012.html

I had a feeling this was going to happen and started a thread about it last week:
