Shrub Getting Laughs A-Plenty
Struggling through listening to his speech on CNN; keeps making weak-assed jokes. They're not funny but the audience is laughing. Could be because they have to? Could be because he's speaking to a bunch of military folk?

I want him in middle America, a town hall meeting, unscripted, with anyone who wants to show up. Just try those jokes on us idiot.

<Of course, I know this will never happen.>

4. LOL "...in the hands of a madman".
I have it on but muted, can't stand to listen to him. What I notice, watching without listening, is that he can't speak for more than a few seconds without having to pause.

They just showed the Saddam statue being toppled. Ugh.

is another one of those f***ing sexist phrases that insinuates only men can be strong and brave when we all know that is utter bullshit.

Shameful! I can't believe he is still using 9/11 to subliminally get support for his policy.

8. He's talking to the Guard, and they're applauding.
Must be under orders to. Can't imagine they're all that happy with what's been going on.

(Unless he promised they won't go while off camera)

15. What A Lying Sack Of Crap Bush IS
I watched some of this PR myself, I noticed that the applause coming from the troops behind him was at best cordial. For some reason most of the cheering was coming from the audience that I couldn't see.

The real funny part was when he talked about the tax cuts, because most of his audience fell into that $10,000 to $26,000 group, that
Congress claims don't pay taxes, therefore were not going to receive
a tax cut.

Then he talked about education, but failed to point out that his education bill was intentionally underbudgeted.

And they all sat there and did nothing. But you can't blame them, slaves don't have the right to question the master. I wonder how happy
those troops are going to be when it's there turn to go to Iraq or Afghanistan.

We can only wait and see.

16. Notice how the media choreographed this?
The White House must send pre-packaged instructions on which clips are to be shown on the split screen during key points of the speech. When he talked about getting rid of Saddam Hussein – "Good riddance!!" – CNN showed pictures of the statue coming down.

He also used the same old tired sure-fire crowd pleasers like the "death tax" (Estate Tax) fallacy, saying that now farmers and small business owners can pass on their businesses to their children. Al Franken covered this in his book, explaining how this is beneficial to a handful of extremely wealthy businessmen. He's also claimed that this tax amounted to "double taxing." Franken reminds us that we're being double taxed every day – every time we pay a fee or a sales tax on income that was already taxed by the U.S. government.

18. I was thinking while watching that
Probably not one of those people there have to worry about paying a death tax. Most of his speech was dishonest, but Americans wouldn't know any different.
