Will the US echo the failures of the British in the Middle East?
Edited on Mon Oct-10-05 04:43 PM by pinto
This must be how the British came to develop partition as a failed foreign policy:

>Instigate yourself in a regional/sectarian conflict for a purely asset driven motive or a perceived global political agenda.

>Choose sides. Support one, or the other or all, depending on *your* circumstances and *your* agenda.

>Supply arms and materiel. "Cash money" helps.

>When that doesn't work out, choose other sides, as above.

>Stand back and watch all hell break loose.

>Try to force a predetermined outcome, irregardless of local realities.

>When that doesn't work out, "reluctantly" respond militarily.

>Catapult the propaganda. Demonize the players.

>Sacrifice lives for an increasingly vague purpose.

>Watch more all hell break loose.

>Catapult more propaganda, but don't call it civil war.

>Recognize "stalemate" as something other than a bloodless chess term.

>Check the fine print on the contracts.

>Partition as possible, call it a success.

>Choose sides.....repeat as necessary.

1. No, we will far exceed the British Empires screw-ups
we've got a broader range of players and issues to get wrong.
