'Judith Miller and the myth of the ‘liberal media establishment’'

Anyone who understands the journalistic mindset (see “disdain for authority,” above) realizes that journalists don’t care what the political views are of their targets. But most people don’t understand the journalistic mindset.

And so when one of those rare instances of illumination presents itself, I believe it is incumbent upon the profession to take advantage of it.

Last week, just such an instance occurred, with New York Times reporter Judith Miller’s release from federal custody.
