http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=54473 WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 /U.S. Newswire/ -- This weekend's Columbus Dispatch poll shows that
approval ratings for Ohio Republican Governor Bob Taft have plummeted to just 15 percent, one of the lowest ratings ever recorded for an American governor. (Toledo Blade, 10/3/05) With the Taft-Johnson Administration embroiled in scandal, Ohio voters are clearly rejecting the culture of corruption Republicans have brought to Columbus.
Democratic National Committee spokesman Damien LaVera today issued the following statement:
"Governor Taft's paltry 15 percent approval rating shows a wholesale rejection of the culture of corruption, cronyism and scandal that the Taft-Johnson Administration has brought to Columbus. With Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and former House Republican Leader Tom DeLay embroiled in corruption scandals in Washington, DC, voters across America-including Ohio-are looking to 2006 for an opportunity to end the Republican leadership's special interest-driven, business-as-usual approach to government.
"Ohioans deserve better; they deserve responsible leadership that represents their values, stands up for their interests, and is accountable to the people. That is what Ohioans value, what the Democratic Party values, and
why Democrats all across the country are fighting to end the culture of corruption the Republican party leadership has brought to Washington and to state capitals across the country."
