NORMAN - Local and federal law officers worked Sunday to remove what was described as a cache of explosive material from the apartment of a man who died in a bombing the night before.

Police were overheard telling residents it would take “several trips and could take up to 24 hours” to remove it all.

Officials said Hinrichs’ motive for blowing himself up Saturday near the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium during the second quarter of OU’s game against Kansas State remains under investigation.
OU President David Boren said Hinrichs was a student “who had very, serious personal problems that led to this tragic death.”

http://www.newsok.com/article/1632030/?template=home/mainIt still bugs me that Boren and law enforcement have been so quick to say there was/is no threat to others...and they were saying this within an hour or two of the explosion! Also note this quote from the article:
"Investigators would not say whether they believe Hinrichs intended to go inside the stadium before the detonation happened."
Whether or not this student intended to commit suicide alone or wished to take others with him is debatable; it's the reaction to the event that is just so baffling. OU students are mostly suspicious and feel as though SOMEthing is being covered up. This is based on what I read and heard in the OU Daily newsroom last night and on local message boards.
Oh, and they were blowing up some of the material last night, and didn't bother to tell anyone ahead of time, so lots of students were calling the newsroom because they heard at least one big explosion and were understandably frightened. The managing editor finally confirmed w/police dispatch that that's what was going on.
