Now, the Repubs will unanimously blame Democrats of "partisanship"...
Because the Democrats will not unanimously support the Bush nominees. But who is more "partisan"? Those that march in lockstep or those that are split on their support? It's amazing! However, it is noteworthy that one of hte first people to come out in support of Miers was Jay Sekulow. Then Senator Cornyn came out in support of her. They wanted to reassure their base right off so as to shut off any questions about her from the partisan Republicans.

1. Dems kept their powder dry for Roberts, Miers is another "Brown"
There will be a "undocumented worker" found, or something else to disqualify her before it gets messy.

She's totally unqualified. Roberts was a judge and argued in front of the Supreme Court for years. After NOLA/Brown, Pugs are going to have to start convincing people that they support "excellence" like they say they do, and aren't simply the party of nepotism and political favors.

Bush and his administration is toast, the nomination is itself payback.

The party will demand someone who is both qualified and not obviously a hack appointee, or they will crash and burn with this administration.

2. Dems in the Trap
Barring an undocumented housekeeper scandal, Miers is in.

And you can thank the 'enabler' Democrats. My Senator, Salazar, decided that he could trust Roberts because he assured him that he would follow precedent. Miers will certainly give that same assurance. Too many Democrats accepted the non-answers that Roberts gave just last month ... how can they now bitch about Miers giving the same non-answers?

Bush set the trap and the 'enabler' Democrats walked right into that trap.

This woman is dangerous and the worst kind of fanatical Bush crony. But because of the Senate Democrats refusal to fight for truth and complete answers, the stage has been set for Miers to be confirmed quickly with a vote probably bigger than Roberts received.

But when Roe v. Wade goes down, remember that the likes of Ken Salazar gave the Supreme Court permission to do so.
