California is 65.1% Republican?
That's the total so far for all Republican candidates. 65.1% of the vote.

Does anyone actually believe this? Because I don't.

1. No Way
There Is No Way Repubs Are That Strong In California - I Believe Alot Of Indies Are Voting For Arnold - But The Total Is So Close (Recall Wise) With Only 16% Reporting As Of Now - It's Still Anyone's Game

I don't buy it either.
Did they count only the orange county ballots and then make a projection from that?

2. You have to look at the first question
the referendum on Grey Davis. Thats the issue. If 65% of Calif is GOP, they DESERVE ENRON.

3. They haven't counted the two most important counties yet
LA & SF

The small hick counties always get tallied up first. Patience, my friend.

4. No, that's crossover from the "Drooling Celebrity Worshippers" crowd
I miss the Old United States. But it is no more and I should just get used to the Empire.

5. 65% is too high
It's more like 60%.

6. Please excuse us Californians
We've suffered a severe brain spasm and are not responsible for our actions.

To those who are hoping LA & SF can pull this out of the fire. I wish it were true but too many Democrats crossed the line to give us much hope. Also absentee ballots tend to favor the GOP.

It's over. Californians don't like Davis and this proves it.

10. my god, i'm so afraid
can i just be a whiner and say this is an awful birthday present?

but seriously, this is beyond horrendous.

the expect us to believe that
-CA voters are majority republican
-sexual assualt of women attracts women voters
-0-5% of the votes in the most diverse state in the nation are a reliable indicator
-millions of abs ballots don't/won't matter
-CA voters are less concerned with money managment ability than lame one-liners..
-immigrant voters chose the anti-immigrant immigrant over the pro-immigrant immigrant
and so on

so much is wrong here it's hard to remember it all. yet we're being told, with glee and premonition, that this is the will of the very people most hit by the bush policies, most demonized by that rhetoric, most active against his agenda during the recent campaings...

the fix is in. democracy is dead. there can be no more excuses, no more denials.

the only question that matters now is: what are you prepared to do about it?

8. I pointed this out too
and it's not true. I'd say Cali is about 30% Republican and 30% idiot celeb-worshipping consumption junkies. California is the international capitol of style over substance, appearance before function, feel-good instead of do-right. We failed to penetrate that section of the electorate by either educating them or appealing to their needs. That's what we're seeing tonight, and that's why I don't particularly care for California.

Not that I dislike Californians. The "Boycott California" threads are quintessential examples of the childish weakness and inherent cannabalistic tendencies that KILL US EVERY TIME.

It's an apolitical phenomenon. There's no conspiracy here, it's Hanlon's Razor; Never attribute to malfeasance that which can be explained by incompetence. People need to take off their tinfoil; they just look like fools. We were outplayed in California, simple as that. The Dems split their voter pool between two candidates, neither of whom were particularly appealing. The "serial gropist" charges were leveled in a fashion which was detrimental to the Democratic effort. Basic tactical and strategic mistakes.

So let's everyone take a deep breath, quit our fucking whining, learn from our experiences, suck it up and PRESS ON.

Sorry if this is a little disjointed, it's been a long night.

9. Did Californians think well of Pete Wilson...
... by the time he left office?

If they did, that might explain the vote. Pete Wilson's bunch are the brains behind Ahnold. His policies will be theirs. Watch them finish up deregulation and see what that does to California....
