Those that use division as a strategy are dangerous and destructive
Bush and Rove have used division as a political strategy. There is nothing good that can come from such an evil strategy. It has worked for them politically but it has failed the nation miserably. Their photo-ops and coverups have kept their base intact, at the expense of the nation as a whole. As we look disaster in the eye, the PR and bullshit seems all so trivial. Today, they divide Louisiana and Texas. Texas did so much better than those Democrats in Louisiana. Because they are not parasites - dependent on the government to tell them what to do....etc...etc...

1. but texas didn't do better
texas did worse, ppl were on the highways for 12-24 hrs, a bus full of old ppl blown up & 24 dead -- and all for what?

i woke up today & as of thirty minutes ago it said houston had received half an inch of rain

one little ol half inch of rain

the state of texas screwed the pooch, it really makes the achievements of louisiana & mississippi contraflow look like the great achievement that it was

if you can't move ppl & you know these storms turn east anyway, don't move 'em for the sake of moving 'em & pretending to Do Something, they killed those old folks as surely as if they held a gun to their heads

every time you order a mandatory evacuation, you will kill a certain # of ppl so you had better be damn prepared & damn sure

2. The true parasites appear to be government contractors
I read here last night that a guy representing 70% of motorcoach businesses, including Greyhound, called FEMA to donate buses for the evacuation of New Orleans, only to be given a runaround. Turns out the task of getting buses to the site was given to a contractor who waited until it was way to late to try and get buses. And for this fiasco the company was paid a huge sum of money. As Sam Seder said on Majority Report last night, there is NO command and control when all the tasks are given (with no bid contracts, no doubt) to businesses whose only claim to expertise is that the head of the company is a friend of Bushco.

3. Bush may succeed in uniting the country . . . against him & Repubs 2006
After styling himself as a "Uniter, not a divider", he failed to unite the country even after being given a 9-11 boost so that the 2004 election was divisive once again (by design). Rove did a careful calculation that showed him that they could not use their policies to peel off any moderate votes so they had to polarize the country yet again by uniting their base and going after just enough swing votes with the gay marriage issue.

Bush will succeed in uniting the country in thinking he is the worst president ever, but we must be sure that Republicans do not escape blame. Republicans cut money for levees and wetlands protection. Republicans turned surplus into debt. Republicans left children behind in New Orleans and also in underfunded school systems across the nation.

Republicans Out 2006!

4. The true parasites are the leaders & politicos who purposely don't
solve issues that pay off for them. And sit on their asses in the aftermath of floods saying "they should of evacuated - don't be poor next time".

That is the message. They will be trying again to teach that lesson. Remember - whenever you hear that message - remember New Orleans.
