So...did all of you fill your gas tanks today?
I was wondering if I'm the only "Chicken Little"?

I'm anticipating $5+ for a gallon of gas, if Rita hits near Galveston--which looks almost certain.

We were down to 1/2 a tank in both cars--so I filled them both up.

Anyone else?

Anyone hear any buzz on gas price predictions, or is anyone experiencing higher gas prices in your area?

We're down to $2.49 for unleaded.

6. I know!!
I thought the exact same thing, when I typed that out!

It's pretty sad when we're down to $2.49 a gallon.

They're getting us used to sky-high prices!

5. Didn't take the car out at all today, but plan to fill up tomorrow.
I'm at about 3/4 tank. The lowest gas price I saw yesterday was 2.839.

I have to take my son to preschool and my daughter to work tomorrow and thought I'd fill up then.

7. I called hubby at work
And told my friends. I don't think we will got $5, here probably $4. But just in case, a full tank of gas can't hurt. I don't know what the prices are now, it keeps on changing

8. Filling up tomorrow morning.
I filled up last weekend for 2.69 for regular. I have no clue what to expect for tomorrow, but I think it will only get worse over the short term.

The "cheap" station always has a line.

11. I live in a city and got rid of my car.
That's about a $1,500 monthly expense off of my back. Without counting the gas worries.

Good luck, you all. This looks really ugly.

12. Yup.
My partner and I filled up both trucks tonight here in Austin for $2.59/gallon.

I'd also suggest stocking the pantry; with diesel about to become in short supply, food is going to skyrocket in price.

14. Topped off the tank at $2.83.9 gal.
I also feel the price of just about everything will continue to rise. Wonder if I should also consider filling the pantry.

anyway. I might as well lay in a stock of staples and non-perishables.

I didn't want to wait. I know what's going to happen to the prices and availability. No point in waiting.

20. Hubby filled both cars @ $2.829.
One was almost empty. Filling the H/D in the AM. We'd only spent $15 on gas this month b/c he was taking the motorcycle to work. We spent a bundle today, though.

24. Yes, I did...
I also called my daughter and reminded her to do so too. Being that we're both in Texas I don't think it was out of place to expect some gouging here. I'd rather not add to someones profits if they choose to gouge if I don't have to.

so I can bus to work if need be, and walk home. Saves gas; trims the behind also.

27. Topped it off this morning at $2.50/gallon in Dallas.
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 10:31 PM by rainbow4321

Did the same thing pre-Katrina, never did have to get gas while it was $3+/gallon. Luckily everywhere I have to go is within 4 miles of my house <kid's school, my work, grocery store> so I can go 2 weeks before I hit empty.

29. no!
i went to town with that intention, but when i got there, gas had gone DOWN 5 cents today! so i drove through town to think on it, then decided to put some in one car. i'll do the other tomorrow, and hopefully it'll go down before it goes back up. i told my kids, though, that it'll skyrocket after this. this is like the calm before the storm.

my commute is a mere 4 miles a day but OUCH!!!

And no I can't bike; 200 lbs. of tools just won't walk there.

34. Filled up tonight at 2.50 p/gallon
I won't get anymore until I use half a tank. There are already a few places that have raised their prices to 2.64.

Hubby is headed to Roanoke and he's worried about finding gas rationing like there was after Katrina.

They changed it to $2.37 immediately after I filled up while I was inside paying. I think a couple of other people behind me managed to squeeze in at the lower price.
