Puke alert
The junior senator from Oklahoma, Tom Coburn (R), is on with Aaron Brown right now. Says we have to cut cut cut programs. Aaron asked about whether he was going to vote in favor of making the tax cuts permanent. He says, well, we cannot even talk about that right now until we figure out what we need to cut.

Pukehead!!!!!!!! :puke:

4. making the tax cuts 'permanent'
what the hell does that mean? That another administration can't come in and change the law? Good luck, guys :eyes:

5. 'course not
but we still have 3 more years of these pukes (unless we can get back one branch of government in 06) and those cuts can cause a lot more damage in that time.

6. That is exactly what it means
The bill would be written in such a way that the end reult would state something to the effect "could never be changed by any future congress or administration". This is not the first time either.

7. ?
Not possible. Ever. Never has been.

Any law can be repealed, including amendments to the Constitution.

8. You're wrong. Original tax cuts were "sunsetted", i.e.,
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 11:07 PM by Divernan
they were effective for a certain period of time and then expire, unless renewed by vote of the congress. They can be renewed for a specific time period (one, two, three, etc., years) or just made a part of the tax code with no time limit indicated. However, the code can always be changed by another congressional vote.

10. The law as it was written and past last time did have a sunset but
this is the language that they are talking about adding to this bill, thus making it permanent. I'll see if I can't find the info about this clause and repost it.
