2. Black evacuees, maybe.
From the flurry of phone calls I've had with MY friends, those of us who were able to watch the whole nightmare unfold on TV weren't buying his joke of a speech one bit.

6. Yeah. I saw that interview, too. In fact, that's what prompted the
flurry of phone calls. Screaming phone calls, I might add.

8. You better watch out
You said "your people" they will be alerting you as a racist freeper here soon.

I wouldn't worry about fellow blacks going gah gah over that speech. I think the Condi/Colin spell has broken for most of us. I know it never worked for me as I don't believe Condi is really black, I'm not too sure about Colin.

I think most black people (who bothered to watch) will take this speech with a grain of salt. We all know he is a big liar besides the horror of Katrina is burned into most of our memories. I don't believe we heard the worst of the stories from New Orleans and when they start coming people will go from being shocked to pissed. I wouldn't worry about "our people" I don't think we are biting that bait. :toast:

14. My worry isn't those of us who've been out here all along watching
this obscene disaster unfold.
The ones I worry about are the evacuees who've been cut off from news. They're the ones who seem to have been taken
in by *s lies, and they're the ones who'll be hurt when he doesn't follow through.

3. People on the ground needed to hear some of that stuff. So they
can have hope into the future. That is their job. To get back a sense of security for their families. And to begin to trust again.

For the rest of us - not on the ground - we need answers to why this happened.

9. Only you defeatist reaction with no evidence
Again. You also posted defeatist junk on the "Rove will beat the Democrats again" thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4788819#4789547

Post some evidence if you are going to try to depress us.

11. Got a couple bits of that "evidence" you require:
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 03:32 AM by chalky
ABC interview

NYT article

Will those work for you?

12. Yes. Now we're talking
That would indicate that on the surface, the original poster has a point. By surface, I mean that some people's quick reaction to the speech will be positive when they are "put on the spot" and a reaction demanded.

13. I must apologize. I misread the original post.
I apologize, I misread the original post to mean the poster's own reactions, when a re-reading makes it clear even to me now that the poster had been seeing reactions from others on TV.

So I apologize to socalover.
