4. Elizabeth something; married to a (former?)
NFL quarterback and was on one of the 'Survivor' shows.
Hasselback is her name.

8. Dean did just fine with his answers.
He said Shrub's policies have hurt all people who aren't in the top 20%, wether they're black, brown, or white! He's right! It's another argument if you ask why are most poor people black or brown.

We need to stop beating up on the one Dem who is doing the most for the Party now!

11. I'm sorry - I disagree - I think the blatant racism needs to be shown for
what it is. And Dean is just the man to do it. Criticism is not beating up. I love Dean.

14. That would totally destroy his credibility.
Besides, how in the hell would he "show it for what it is?"

17. All these qualifications. Why did he feel the need to stress that the Pres
isn't a racist when he could have said that the response to the disaster was driven by inherent racism. It's the truth, for fucks sake. And it isn't like he's the only one thinking it.

19. He had to stress it BECAUSE everyone was expecting him to say it.
He had to make it clear that that wasn't what he was saying- because he can't prove it.

What he could prove, he said.

24. A republican would never have done it. Not saying we need to stoop to
their level but they are better than us at communicating a very specific message and nothing else. Sometimes this tactic would be to our benefit. I believe this is one of those times. That's all I'm sayin'.

30. Bush is not a racist per se....he is cold, uncaring, clueless.
He is that way about white or any color. He just does not give a damn about anyone but very rich people.

It has nothing to do with skin color. Bush's America has hurt all of us who are not rich.

He is callous, he has no empathy at all.

15. I agree...........
I'm relatively new here and love it, but one thing I've noticed (and obviously many others, too, 'cause there've been heated discussions) is that we can't even get a concensus on many issues here. Man, no wonder the Dems appear fucked up.....we're a reflection of them or vice versa. I know it's cause there are sooooo many issues that require attention and change (that's putting it mildly, I know), but we're so quick to vilify any of "our" people if they don't do every single thing the way we want it. Call me Pollyanna, but I wish we could get a list of people together we, as a community here at DU, can all support. I can't think of any one Dem leader or potential leader liked by everyone here. Can you?

We've gotta find someone to really put our support behind in a unified fashion or we're screwed. It's one thing to get BushCo out of there, but we need to come together with a common vision and decide who we'd like to lead us in that common vision.

If this pisses anyone off, I'll just blame it on PMS and the fact that I missed Howard with the bushbot....;-)

6. Think I hate Meredeth Viera even more than the fembot Survivor contestant
Atleast it's clear she's just some airhead bimbo Xtian. Viera is just some stuck up biased republican soccer mom posing as an objective pseudo-journalist.

10. Is Viera a repug? I haven't watched this show (except
for Dean today) since I discovered Democracy Now is on at the same time. Today she seemed on board w/Star and Joy, who are definitely dems.

12. I definetly think she is. I only caught the last minute or 2 of Dean's
interview, but the rare occasion I've watched this AWFUL show, I've caught wind of Meredith Viera's bias. I think I might have caught it on election day and she made a strong indication she voted for Bush, with the fembot was so demonstratably delighted about and showed it in her typical bubbly immature way.

16. No, she was bashing Bush earlier as well.
She was just bringing up a counterpoint to Dean's contention that Bush's policies hurt poor people and black people.

Dean should have responded that these types of policies have been in place since well before Bush's term, as well.

Which was stupid. How many of them would give up their careers to advance their husband's career? I wished he would have asked them that.

We discussed it, and she said staying with her career would make her happy. What makes her happy makes me happy.

How much better can you get than that?????

27. That humanized him a lot
Contrast that to Ken Mehlman, a walking, talking robot who never reveals any hint that he is a human.

(I'm single too, so I'm not bashing Mehlman for that. But he nevcer shows a human side -- which shows the difference between the reality of someone like Dean as a 3D human, and not just a political automaton. )

33. Political automaton? Naw, just another HACK!
That's all Shrub and the Pubs have! What else can you call them when they dutifully read their talking points of the day?

I know Dean said he is dedicated to being the Chairman of the Dem Party, and he's doing a terrific job! I wish he would reconsider, have another election for chair, and run for Pres in 08!

He seems to have all the attributes most people on DU are looking for. He's an honest man, speaks what he believes in, won't back down from his comments, and can actually THINK and come to rational decisions!!!!

Gee, I wonder if he has a cloe somewhere????

I did get the feeling that the only one who wasn't politically aligned was the Stepford gal. Joy doesn't even pay her a second's worth of attention anymore, because she knows she can wipe up the floor with this nincompoop.

29. Dean did great even with that babbling feminazi in the corner
I know Feminazi is rush's word :puke: , but this bot is the perfect example.
Meredith did get a little weird toward the end, kind of competing with the bot for a chance to gotcha Dean.
Thanks for the heads up. Dean still speaks for me!
