Now, with the exception of some decent coverage of Katrina, they suck the establishment's cock.

Why, do they suck now? They used to rule so hard.

Here is a link to Good Night and Good Luck, George Clooney's new movie about how CBS brought down fascism in the United States.

Edward R. Murrow: We can not defend freedom abroad and desert it at home, good night and good luck.

5. In the 50s, the news didn't care about the ratings
and, since they weren't smoking on the screen as they read the news, they left the "product placement" to people like Lucille Ball and other "entertainers" . . .

Check out some of the old time TV shows . . .

3. We sure need an Edward R. Murrow now.
I had a crazy dream last night that DU was able to buy enough stock to engineer a hostile takeover of CNN and to break it off from AOL/Time/Warner. Wouldn't that be fun?

6. News used to be a red-ink department
And Paley was proud of that fact.
