Why hasn't * addressed the nation?
Wheres the "all networks", prime time speech?

The one laying out the "road map" for New Orleans recovery?

The one offering financial incentives for businesses across America willing to hire NOLA's displaced residents?

The one designed to pull the nation back together, to reinvigorate and motivate the overworked emergency workers and volunteers in the gulf states.

The one with the dire warnings for profiteers and oil companies attempting to take financial advantage of a national disaster?

I haven't heard a peep, wheres the leadership we pay these people so dearly for?

Worthless bastards.

14. Dang! I went to church & had an awesome time...
My husband (a preacher) stood up and said:
"On 9/11 hundreds of firemen and police officers ran into a building they knew could collapse - risking their lives...and many lost them...What I fail to understand is why the military wouldn't go in to bring food and water and rescue the people in New Orleans. Oh, heck. I do know why, and you do too - tens of thousands of poor black people. Tens of thousands of poor black people are scarier than the tallest building in the world aflame..."
(then he went on to talk about our church and how important it is that we continue to be progressive. Our church is about 50% mixed & it is amazing)

Then, afterwards, we had a meet & greet and a conclave of us were ranting in the corner. I said, "I was moved to get up and say,
"George Bush is the Antichrist and the Mark of the Beast is a Republican Voters' Registration Card"
Everyone burst out laughing & now I have to make bumper stickers!

This is absurd. Why announce a day of prayer 8 days in advance? Seriously. I smell a rat.

15. There is a plan for him to do so once the recovery has made more progress.
The White House has described to Time magazine a three part plan for Bush to improve his image. Addressing the nation is one part of that plan, but not until things have improved in New Orleans.

28. I think...
...that a decent assessment of exactly what has happened, what's recoverable, and how many people were lost hasn't had time to be completed. They may not know what they are dealing with until enough of the water has drained. Not to let them off the hook or anything, but you can't assess what's needed if you don't know what's been lost.

30. Bookkeepers need assessments, leaders need balls and backbones
To stand up in the midst of chaos and confusion and make people move is leadership.

...and those 'balls and backbones' are manifested in concrete ways, and with specific decisions, which often take time and adequate information. Give it time... Frankly, I'd rather see some of our good Dem leaders take the lead...

going into a shelter in '65, flashlight in hand, saying I am Lindon Johnson President of the US, and we will take care of you....

Then compare

Heck I will be nice,

Think Bush and bullhorn on Sept 12, and then this... even if Sept 12 was partly fiction, at least he did SOMETHING.
