I think we need a Katrina Issues Forum
Like the 9-11 Issues. I think it would make a useful long term resource. In a month, it's going to be hard to sifth through all the stories, links, debunkings and ideas if everything stays in GD.

3. I think this is a very important issue. It goes to the heart of what this
presidency is about. It touches on all parts of their agenda. It asks the questions who we are supposed to be.

I vote for never putting Katrina into a forum.

4. I think it should be a 'current event' type of forum
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 08:09 PM by dweller
that could be archived as "Current Event Sep7-Oct 4 2004" with the 'current event' being the title it was eventually known as, and the dates were the time it was a hot topic.

When something as significent as Katrina occurs, the forum would start again, with the beginning date. Continue until it has become more under control, and threads found more stable discussion in General forum, etc.

Right now i'm sure the mods are working at breakneck speed trying to keep up with the mulitple posts, and i guess we'll be at level 3 for a duration due to the dupe threads. In one forum, they could concentrate on keeping the topics condensed. I am as guilty as others tho, replying to several threads that start on a subject, then seeing the thread end and replying to another to get more info. One thread could contain all the info, dupe threads, responses, etc.

Note this would work somewhat like LBN, except all current threads would go there on a certain subject, one would look there for the news, and free up the other forums to flow as usual.

just my op.

dp

edit: i only think this will work, or should be considered for news of the current magnitude that the hurricane is, so it wouldn't be a operating forum for long periods.

5. Isn't that what DU's become?
Not to mention the cable news channels. But I also think this is a great idea. Just the death toll from this, after all the dead are counted, is going to eclipse 9/11.;( Recommended.

There are always hot topics on DU. It was all about Cindy, before that it was all about Plame, before that it was all about the DSM.

8. I know that. But this is pretty big and not going away anytime soon.
And I did say that I thought this was an excellent idea. And recommended this thread for The Greatest Page...:-)

BTW, you forgot the discussions about Jeff Gannon...

It's impossible to be happy about the coming fall of GWB because the price is just too high. Just too high.

16. I absolutely agree.
We keep saying that each blunder or lie is the thing that will bring down Bush*. But this latest is a national tragedy of such magnitude that it could bring down this country. The price is way too high. Bring back the days of Jeff Gannon...:-(

18. Yes, it was, and I'm sorry!!!
I thought about it and it took me three tries before I finally made that post. I preferred joking about Jeff Gannon to what we're facing now. I miss those days, too...;(

I sure preferred it to the current situation. I prefer discussing Jeff Gannon, or, as I always it made a point to refer to him on this board, James Dale Guckert!:D

9. Count me out.
Katrina is a major political issue. DON'T put it in it's own forum. I think if you do that, it will experience gradual but inevitable dungeonification.

Put Katrina in it's own forum, give it a month or two, and the consensus of that board will be that the hurricane's existence, strength and direction was consciously created by a BFEE cabal dominated by the neo-cons over at PNAC in conjunction with Queen Elizabeth II and the Rothschild banking family.

How did they do it? Let's just put it this way: we finally found out what chemtrails were for.

Some might also note that Katrina's sudden surge from a Category 3 to 4 to 5 in the Gulf of Mexico completely violated the probability calculations made by NOAA at the time, and conclude that massive, storm-wide fraud was involved somehow. Charts will be made.

Please! Let's not go down that road!
