What's happened to/Where is CNN's Jeanne Meserve?
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 07:12 PM by Whoa_Nelly
She was on the scene throught Katrina and a few days afterward. Anyone who heard her shaken, shades of being more than overwhelmed, report from NO, knows she was very involved there.

Haven't seen/heard anything from her on CNN in at least the past 4-5 days. Is she still reporting? Have I missed something here?

1. I've wondered the same thing. Her reporting was key. Someone posted...
here, I think, that she had to leave and deal with herself. I'm afraid that may be true, since we have not seen her. I hope she's okay.

3. I havent seen her for awhile either
Nor the male reporter from CNN who was in New Orleans at the time of the disaster. Sorry, cant remember his name right now.

Perhaps it was just too much for some of them and they needed to take some time off? Others, like Anderson Cooper, feel they MUST stay and get the stories out to the people.

I dont judge anyone if they had to leave. I can hardly bear to watch some of it on TV. It is just beyond comprehension.

4. I have a feeling she has PTSD and is hopefully getting rest or therapy.

6. I just thought of her today as well...
She got the ball rolling in a big way. I hope she's okay.

7. I saw her during the hurricane, really bomb the spot. I wondered if
they'd let her back on the air after that. Later that day, they did.

She was supposed to listen and answer quiestions and talk about the wind, and she just couldn't think or speak at all. She wasn't waiting for the earpiece to work, staring at the camera ready: She was looking all around with the mic in her hand ready to talk, but not able to think. She was on a hotel balcony, I remember.

Some people can perform while distracted and some can't. It may be that she's not cut out for this kind of stuff. She may be OK in studio, or on the human insterest stuff that's largely scripted, but, it takes a particular kind of talent to think and speak off the cuff. You have to have a knack of being an improvisor, a writer, a director, and a producer. It's not as easy as it looks. That's why some teachers are great, and others are boring.

8. I diagree. I think she was great.
She did some fine reporting, and she was one of the first ones on the scene. She stayed for days, working with a cameraman who had a broken foot who worked relentlessly with no treatment for his foot.

Have you ever had a broken foot? It hurts like hell.

She'll be back, after some much needed rest.
