Nagin was a wealthy Republican businessman (cable system operator) who decided he wanted to run for mayor and knew he couldn't win as a Repug. So, he switched his party to Democrat 3 years ago, right as he began to run for Mayor.

He even donated campaign money to George W. Bush's primary campaign in 1999.

When I hear Nagin bitchin' about the federal gov't, I just wanna yell, WELL, RAY -- WHY DID YOU CONTRIBUTE MONEY TO PUT THAT BASTARD BUSH IN THE WHITE HOUSE???
