1. Plantation America
A rich few at the top, the rest of us fighting for crumbs off their table as most of the country sinks into squalor with isolated pockets of gated communities. Sounds just like the Middle Ages, doesn't it?

3. Nope, sounds like JUUUUUST before the French Revolution.
And you know what happened THEN.

I don't think these idiots have any idea what they are setting in motion. But the eventual outcome will NOT be in their favor, that's for sure.

No matter how far things swing one way, they always swing back. If it can't happen naturally, it will be forced. People will only stand so much before they snap.

This snap's gonna be a doozy.

4. I believe feudalism is indeed where we are headed.
It will be a modern day version, but still it will be 'government of, by & for the rich.' Thom Hartmann states in his book Unequal Protection:

"...the consensus is that when the wealthiest in a society take over government and then weaken it so that it no longer can represent the interests of the people, the transition has begun into a new era of feudalism."

and . . .

"The transition from a governmental society to a feudal one is marked by the rapid accumulation of power & wealth in a few hands, with a corresponding reduction in the power & responsibilities of government. Once the rich & powerful gain control of the government, they turn it upon itself, usually first eliminating its taxation process as it applies to themselves."

2. Knowing it's their only option to stay in power,
we have to be vigilant. People complain that we are nation-building in Iraq, but in reality, we are nation-destroying. We don't need any more of that here.

to successfully take over a Subway sandwich shop.

9. It was an attempt
but they blew it.

Disaster was averted when the Governor wouldn't be intimidated into signing away her right to govern her state.

10. Personally, if I were a psychopath about to take over the nation
I would have made gun control my highest priority. :)

Besides, I doubt the military would follow *ush to such an end. I doubt it very much.

11. This is the disaster they wanted.
The accidental nuclear explosion off Charleston, SC is off the stove for now. Like Chimpster said, "....heck, it'd be a whole lot easier if this were a dicatorship, heh, heh, as long as I'm in charge."

Yep, this is rehearsal. This reminds me of the 1800's Indian Removal, Trail of Tears. Poor whites are next.
