The article that disputes HALF of the spin: "It was impossible to get in"
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 12:06 PM by kerry-is-my-prez
"There was too much water and the roads and bridges were all out. AND that it was too dangerous."

The three Duke students who drove all the way from the Carolina's and managed to rescue 7 people. They had been turned away twice by the National Guard but took another route and got in by pretending they were Reporters.

I have been repeating this article to all of the Repubs, etc. who keep saying that it was impossible to get in. When I was asking them why Reporters managed to get in and out and Harry Connick Jr., they always claim "Well they got in by helicopter" or "They already there in New Orleans and were stuck there."

We should track these guys down and demand that the talking heads start interviewing them.

I apologize because know this has been posted before - but I'm finding this to be the best way to refute all of the spin:

DURHAM -- A trio of Duke University sophomores say they drove to New Orleans late last week, posed as journalists to slip inside the hurricane-soaked city twice, and evacuated seven people who weren't receiving help from authorities.

-snip-

"Anyone who knows that area, if you had a bus, it would take you no more than 20 minutes to drive in with a bus and get these people out," Buder said. "They sat there for four or five days with no food, no water, babies getting raped in the bathrooms, there were murders, nobody was doing anything for these people. And we just drove right in, really disgraceful. I don't want to get too fired up with the rhetoric, but some blame needs to be placed somewhere."

-snip-

At 6:30 a.m. Sunday, they made their second run into New Orleans, returning to the house at Magazine and Peniston streets. This time they picked up three men and headed back to Baton Rouge. Two of the men were the husbands of two of the women evacuated the night before. The students reunited them with their wives and put the two families on a bus for Texas.

Buder is from Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; Byrd is from Rock Hill, S.C.; and Hankla is from Washington, D.C.

1. By late Sunday that was the case, but on Friday and Saturday while
....the poor center city residents and people unable to move were lined up outside the Super-dome and Convention center for most on those two days without protection, major convoys could have been brought in to move the very sick and at least drop water, food and supplies to those facilities. NOTHING LIKE THAT HAPPENED!

3. Filthy traitors were just trying to make Bush look bad
Why aren't they in jail with that traitor who stole a school bus and drove drowning people out of town WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM MICHAEL BROWN?

Dirty treasonous Bush-haters...
