Quote from Slidell Mayer (threaten's FEMA)
3:32 P.M. Ben Morris, Slidell mayor: We are still hampered by some of the most stupid, idiotic regulations by FEMA. They have turned away generators, we've heard that they've gone around seizing equipment from our contractors. If they do so, they'd better be armed because I'll be damned if I'm going to let them deprive our citizens. I'm pissed off, and tired of this horse$#@@."

1. The country now gets to see the
great vision that neo-conservatives have for our nation. Someone here posted yesterday how the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire really set in motion the progressive movement in this country. I honestly believe that most Americans are horrified by the inaction of the federal government. I think people are going to be thinking long and hard about what kind of country they want.

Apparently even Trent Lott is pissed off today about the lack of help. What government policies did this shit think he was supporting all these years?

13. Hackle Trent's ear off about Impeachment....
Its high time he look at the facts of high crimes + misdemeanors. He was thinking about it but now's the time to make him act.

29. What inaction?
FEMA seems to be very active: cutting off emergency communications in Jefferson Parrish, seizing equipment from contractors and rescue workers, manning the perimeter of the hardest hit areas to make sure no rescuers or supplies get in, hassling victims. Why, I am surpised they have the energy to keep going! </sarcasm>

7. They are the 1984 FEMA. Everything this administration does is backwards..
If they say "up", you better immediately think "down"

The Jefferson Parish Louisiana President (I think his name is Broussard, the one that was crying on Meet The Press) was saying that FEMA was cutting their EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION LINES.

WTF????

When Bush says ..."we're from the gov't and we're here to help" you better believe YOU ARE FUCKED.

protect local rescue efforts from FEMA.

This is the kind of stuff that needs to be blasted to the corporate media.

12. It will not end until the citizens rise up and stop it themselves
They won't be stopped until they are guarding their supplies with guns. It will have to look like a strike line in Hazard County before they will be ok down there.

We are watching and they don't care! They don't care that we can see that they have no clothes on.

14. Audio Transcript: Ben Morris, Mayor of Slidell
Here' my transcription... I tried to be as accurate as possible so you will see 'the's and other words that don't 'read' well, but make perfect sense when you hear the audio:

Ben Morris, Slidell Mayor: garbled "Faced with some of the most incredible, incredible, stupid ignorant regulations by FEMA. They have turned generators away from us. They've turned fuel away from us, because they determined or the driver determined that it wasn't the correct spot to put it. Uh, the generators... uh 'Oh, the spot, site, the site hadn't been inspected yet, we've got to bring an inspector in to see the where the thing is going...' you know...

Bring me generators. We're in a catastrophic situation, uh and that is absolutely incredible. We have heard that FEMA or some federal agencies are going around seizing equipment from our contractors etc.

If they do that they'd better bring weapons because I'll be Goddamned if I'm going to give anything up to a bunch of Feds coming in and we're in a catastrophic situation and taking our stuff. And I am really pissed off and I'm getting tired of this. Uh, they need to start doing things that make sense and quit all of this horseshit. It doesn't mean a damn thing to anybody except some bureaucrat in Washington."

for a Federal takeover.

They are just sowing the seeds of unrest.

It also make sit easier to blame the governor.

What it looks like is FEMA delayed aid and obstructed, while Bush tried to strongarm Blanco, Honore, Nagin and others to turn their state and city over to the Bush Cartel, to declare martial law, to federalize it all (first contract to guess who? Yup.) And was trying--is still trying--to get them to sign documents to that effect, which will allow the Cartel to blame them and take over (boondoggle for the rich, under Cartel control), and they have been refusing to sign. That's what the unplanned Bush visit to Blanco was about, today. We don't know if she held up.

That's what the planned hardship and chaos is all about, and the Cartel emphasis on looters. Honore has been telling it like it is, that there is not any unusual amount of looting or crime; no need for martial law or federalization. He ordered his NG troops not to point weapons at people.

Big power struggle over whether Cartel or local LA's are going to be in control of reconstruction and citizens. Very important struggle. If it's the Cartel, we have suspension of Posse Comitatus, our protection against being ruled by the U.S. military. Just like in Iraq, they are trying to use chaos and suffering to bully and control.

There was a news report yesterday, which first said that 5 of 6 people in the Army Corps of Engineers had been shot in some sort of armed convoy situation, attacked by looters, on the Pontchartrain bridge. Then the story was changed repeatedly, and now it's very unclear what really happened. Could this be related? (Halliburton/Titan-type death squads shooting down local engineers trying to repair things, trying to stop repairs or grab their equipment?) (--or maybe just needy citizens approaching for help and getting shot by nervous or trigger-happy police or troops, all freaked out by Bush chaos?)

Does anyone know if there is military in NO? I haven't followed this aspect. Who's on the ground in NO and LA region?

This thread is interesting, about Honore:
