Rush calling for "open-mindedness"
This is absolutely incredible. He's asked in general about how when we're young - did we want to be liked. How we can go along to be liked. It's all in the framework of his being outspoken on ESPN. But it seems to go deeper when he asked us to think about the grey areas of life.

It's incredible to me that he would ever ask for open mindedness. And also how during political campaigns we can't be afraid to say what we think. He's never lived by these notions.

Going now to watch Kerry on C-Span. I need a reality check. Rush's twilight zone is too much for me.

8. It does sound like he's laying some groundwork

I'd like to be charitable. But if he's opting to beseech his listeners to reflect liberal attitudes toward him - well, that it ticks me off. I hope that someone takes him aside and talks the serious talk. He's not doing his followers any good with this double stadard.

Omigosh! He just said that he *is* diversity because of his talent. Leaves me speechless.

edit: for spelling

Wonders never cease. That has to be what I would have considered the least likely headline ever.

10. Oxy-Moron? Oxy-Contin?
Oxy something?

Interesting to note, the original Greek root, oxys, means "sharp".

9. Of course he did...
It is the old do as I say, not as I do schtick. He deserves a break because he is being wronged by the "liberal media". :nopity: Just like Bennett and all the others were expected to be treated gently. Poor things just fell off the wagon of rightousness. We can't pick on them because they are good and pious men.

RIGHT!!! :grr:

This is what I sent:

OUTRAGED

This Skinhead - Pill Popper is famous for preaching family
values and morality. This viscious hypocrite, like Bill Bennett,
has no business preaching his filth to this country or to our armed
services. Popping 4700 Oxycontin a month is not my family value. If
you dont take him off the air, I will ask the FCC and my Senators and
Congressman to take your company off the air.

22. Oooh, here's a good tack... complain to the FCC!
http://ftp.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Wireless/Orders/2001/fcc01359.doc

Above is a proceeding by the FCC to pull the amateur radio license of Kevin Mitnick, convicted hacker...

I quote:

Based on the information before us, we believe that Mr. Mitnick’s criminal behavior raises a substantial and material question of fact as to whether he possesses the requisite character qualifications to be and remain a Commission licensee. Because we are unable to make a determination that grant of Mr. Mitnick’s application would serve the public interest, convenience, and necessity, ...

Here's another:

http://ftp.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Wireless/Orders/2002/fcc01392.doc

Folks, if Limbaugh's on your station, complain to the FCC- clearly Limbaugh DOES NOT have the requisite character to be on a licensed station.

If they can pull an AMATEUR'S license, they probably can pull a professional license (ha ha Clear Channel!)

A few hundred complaints to the FCC and Limbaugh would, I think, be permanently retired.

11. hypocritical horseshit

What he's basically saying is that he, for the express purpose of his current circumstances, seeks to abandon his confrontational self and become a nice guy: "Let me revert to my youth," he's begging. "Please, like me! I want to go to the prom, too!"

12. Rush Vs Rush
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 12:45 PM by JHB
Now: "open mindedness"

Then:
Let's all admit something.
There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.

Now: "grey areas"

Then:
What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.

Any ideas?
