It's called a "livelihood".

These MSM creeps know what side of the proverbial toast is buttered and by whom.

If they criticize Bush, they know they, and their corporate owners, will lose access to the White House. If they lose that access, they lose money (in terms of not being able to compete with other news organizations that do "play the game" and, consequently, retain their access).

Anyone who has worked for a corporation knows what I'm talking about. There's an unspoken rule that everyone adheres to if they want to stay employed and to advance: you follow and support the proclivities of the CEO and the "corporate culture" he or (rarely) she establishes. If you don't, either get used to stunted career advancement, or look for another job.

14. On some level, they must be considering shifting away from Bush

and looking toward 2008. Bush's political capital could be completely spent after this and they know it. So we shouldn't dance too much when the shrub goes up in flames, because the people pulling the strings are probably already looking for the next figurehead. They'd love to keep us distracted dancing on Bush's political grave - so we should try to keep our eyes on the horizon (while still dancing a little!).
