Convenience store manager tells gas supplier to f**k off.

I went up to my local convenience store (Circle-K) a short while ago to get my Lotto tickets. The gas pumps all had the nozzles wrapped up in paper bags like they do when they are out of gas. The clerk said the driver of the latest bulk shipment wanted over four bucks a gallon wholesale for it when he came this afternoon. The clerk said her manager told him to keep it.

This might be a good thing. If the suppliers just pass the cost on to the consumer without any objection to the refiners the rising prices will never end.

6. Central Florida

I don't know if it was a local decision or a corporate Circle-K decision, but I approve.

9. That's a good and appropriate reaction
I hope more gas station owners tell them to shove it. I bet they'd lower the price if everybody resused to buy this stuff that was bought and purchased based on $1.80 retail prices I'm sure. This free market has a few flaws if you ask me. Energy is an essential item we need to live - is the market allowed to murder a nation?

16. Saw on the news a gas station somewhere was closed for gouging
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 01:28 AM by I_Make_Mistakes
He raised his price $.89 in 1 24hr. period.

edited to add: In Phila., and South Jersey there are numbers to call to report price gougers. It is not going to be accepted and they have been warning stations for days.

19. Wow
Gas here has been between 3.70-4.00 since d+2 Katrina.

Of course, all our gas comes through NOLA, so that's no surprise. We also are one of the few places with any gas at all in my state.

20. I was playing with the idea of getting everyone to start a 'Gas-In'
better than a gas out : )- and use sick leave for a week and not buy gas for that week. Emergency employees would be excluded, but we need to find a way to show we're not going to pay those prices.

21. Independent gas stations are going to take it up the WAZOO
The indies buy on the spot market, they do not have their costs locked in like the name brands. They might have a hard time hanging on if the spot prices continue to soar.

Then the name brand vultures will swoop in...what little competition exists, will be crushed.
