Lots of things should have been done...but the mayor had no power to do them....that's the job of FEMA and lately Homeland Security.

The mayor only has power...and a very limited power it is...within the city limits of NO.

Those w/ boats in the river likely evacuated upstream... those w/o boats would need to have FEMA or some other group to evacuate for them.


Otherwise he seems to be saying 'evacuate' as in their bowels......?

13. He was talking about evacuating the Superdome by the river.
Considering there is no reason why buses couldn'thave been used to evacuate in the first place, I really don't think it would have been easier to evacuate by the river.

He can't commandeer anything, or anyone to go anywhere.

17. only small boats were safe enough to get around but why were 500 BLOCKED
from getting in by the FEDS is the real question
