So Where TF have Congress and the Senate been?
The world already knows what a useless piece of shit the president is. But what about senators and congressional representatives? Days after Katrina, on September 1,

"House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) will convene the Senate tonight, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005 and the House tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 2, 2005."
http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=52473

What the hell took THEM so long to get off their duffs to call an emergency session? Americans are finally getting to turn on * and FEMA, but Hastert, Frist AND our own representatives need to be exposed for their past and present responsibility for the terrible suffering that's happening because of their decisions or lack of it. Damn it, this bunch are supposed to be law makers and empowered by us to initiate laws to protect us--and they can do so in an emergency of this magnitude. So I don't want to hear responses from DUers, especially on behalf of Demo senators and congress persons as I've had on previous threads such as "what do you want them to do?" That's been the repug response every time someone levels criticism at Bush and it's bullshit.

do they have to have a quorum before work can start
on something like this? Were they not out of session? I really don't know...but if they were out of session it would take a couple of days to just get people back...

3. I said the same thing
The Democrats should have been back in Washington monday, at their desks with solutions, drumming their fingers waiting for the Republicans to show back up. The Democrats are missing opportunities to seize the debate on this. Have they been so whipped by the iron fisted way the GOP has run congress that they couldn't see the opportunity to turn things around. They have public sentiment on this. Go for the jugular damn it!
