Does anyone know how Mobile is - travel-wise?

Does anyone know how Mobile is - travel-wise?
My son is planning to travel from Tuscaloosa to Mobile this weekend, to visit his girlfriend. I can't talk him out of going, so I was hoping someone knew the real story of how things are down there. I have read, and heard, a couple of stories that seem to indicate that Mobile is fine, but I know that there is gasoline outages and thousands of folks stranded on the highways... Anyway, if anyone knows the score, I would appreciate any information. TIA...

a problem. Travelers should fill up at the half-tank mark when gas is available to avoid having to search for gas when nearing empty.

I talk to friends in Mobile two or three times a day so the above is accurate.

ON EDIT ADD: I called for the latest info on gas, "Long lines but gas is available".

2. Thanks a lot, jody, that makes me feel a little easier about the
punk heading down to Mobile. I'll tell his mom, maybe she'll relax a little, too. :hi:
