No.....I think maybe you should call your senator and congressman and ask WHAT THE F*CK we pay them for and where the government leadership of this rescue effort is.

I think you should donate to whatever reputable agency you can and make long term plans to help house dislocated people once the initial rescue efforts are complete.

and headed down there? I have a truck, an SUV (sorry;-) and a company gas card. Along with credit cards and a bank account. I would gladly give it all to get some of those folks out. We can set up tent cities.

I wish moveon (or some outfit) would organize it. My husband thinks it would be a waste of time and effort because people keep saying they won't let us in-- and he's worried we wouldn't be able to buy gas to get us there and back.

But St. Tammany has no gas (according to the WWLTV website) and the other states are running out. I had actually thought of flying into Tennessee and driving from there, but I was afraid I'd never get out of LA because of a lack of gas.

12. Mr. CB's family is in St. Tammany Parish: no one allowed into parish

If we need to have them come up here to GA we will have wait to actually speak with them in person. They are alive and homes not flooded but have tree and storm damage. That's all we know.

They got out a messge to us via ham radio-ham radio -phone to phone call to us: we're OK. 2 days later , nephew drove to Baton Rouge and called his sister from a pay phone: tree on house but no flooding. Cousin's house no flooding.

We have not heard from them for 3 days now. No electric or phone for 6-8 weeks as per mayor of Slidell. They are alive which is wonderful: best news of all.

Authorities say if you come to NOLA bring 2 weeks of fuel, H2O, food and other supplies.
