The Heinz Corp has donated $500,000 worth of money and goods, and promises
more as needed... according to the Heinz web site.

I also hear THK is coughing up massive amounts of personal cash as well.

6. Excuse me?
:eyes:

How about the gov't. take care of its affairs and we can applaud the private citizens/companies - who are under no obligation to give anything - who give millions.

10. They said more would be available if necessary.
It is wise to watch and see how the money is being dispersed. I can remember times in the past when the money wasn't getting to those in need!

13. Not the point. A private company and private citizens. Where's Junior?
THEY are not morally obligated to do anything. The government is. We know the gov't. can do better, mostly because they haven't done ANYTHING!!!

19. the govt is bankrupt
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 04:13 PM by LSK
Ive known this since before Clinton. Thanks to the Reagan years. That is his true legacy. DEBT.

Well since all these corporations can get huge tax cuts, still declare bankruptcy, send our jobs overseas, retire CEOS with millions - THEY SHOULD COUGH UP THE MONEY.

7. Last year when the hurricanes hit us hard here in Central Florida

I remember Walgreen's brought in several trailer loads of vital necessities like water, diapers and food. I don't doubt that they will this year whenever they get a clear roadway to where the supplies are needed.

16. that's not a whole lot for a giant corporation...
I'm sensing a double standard- Wal-Mart gives $1 million and we point out how low that is, but Hainz gives 500k and no one says anything?
