READ: In 2001, FEMA shared hurricane strike on New Orleans --- they knew

In 2001, FEMA ranked a major hurricane strike on New Orleans as “among the three likeliest, most castastrophic disasters facing this country.” Bush slashed hurricane funding anyway. August 29, 2005 10:19

In 2001 here the "silver bullet" -- our govt knew and Bush CUT FUNDING

KEEPING ITS HEAD ABOVE WATER
New Orleans faces doomsday scenario

By ERIC BERGER

New Orleans is sinking.
And its main buffer from a hurricane, the protective Mississippi River delta, is quickly eroding away, leaving the historic city perilously close to disaster.
So vulnerable, in fact, that earlier this year the Federal Emergency Management Agency ranked the potential damage to New Orleans as among the three likeliest, most castastrophic disasters facing this country.
The other two? A massive earthquake in San Francisco, and, almost prophetically, a terrorist attack on New York City.
The New Orleans hurricane scenario may be the deadliest of all.
In the face of an approaching storm, scientists say, the city's less-than-adequate evacuation routes would strand 250,000 people or more, and probably kill one of 10 left behind as the city drowned under 20 feet of water. Thousands of refugees could land in Houston.
Economically, the toll would be shattering.
Southern Louisiana produces one-third of the country's seafood, one-fifth of its oil and one-quarter of its natural gas. The city's tourism, lifeblood of the French Quarter, would cease to exist. The Big Easy might never recover.

CONNECT the DOTS:
------------------

1 in 2001 Bush knew that new orleans was 1 of 3 disasters (NY & terror strike was one as well, San fran earthquake was #3)

2 bush funded a study in 2004 ($500k) and it confirmed a scenario

3 bush cut funding by 80% to New Orleans for hurricane readiness

What more do you need...?? This man is NOT A LEADER he is responsible
for waht happened...he knew

IMPEACHMENT is too nice......

1. Problem is that Bush intentionally ignores any data that does not
fit into his sick, twisted agenda.

3. Yes, that's basically it.

When you systematically destroy the social safety net, when you irresponsibly and arrogantly use the military to try to maintain US economic superiority, when you enact tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans that result in staggering debt, when you pursue trade agreements and tort reform that prioritize corporate profits over the welfare of the American people, you are destroying this country and the hope for its future.

I just pray it's not too late to turn things around. My hubby and I were just remarking this morning that people who were rabid Bush supporters are starting to question Bush's policies. They are finally starting to listen to what we have been trying to tell them all along.

Edited because I forgot to use spell check.

4. They knew about this threat
The scale of the threat has been well known for years. Oceanographer Joe Suhayda created a detailed model of the impact of a Category 5 hurricane hitting New Orleans, showing that much of the city could be plunged under 20 feet of water, causing tens of thousands of casualties. And in 2004, Hurricane Ivan barely missed the city, again highlighting the urgent need for a viable evacuation plan.
