MSNBC reporter: three buses being held for NO cops and their
families...she saw three buses standing and asked if people in wheel chairs could go on..they said they'd pay...driver tolder her buses are for the police and their families to leave.

Folks - here's the lesson. In Bush's America and his Homeland Security first responders : you're on our own

Be prepared for any emergency yourself.

2. That is why you are seeing the violence.
These people are being left to die.

3. Exactly. The minute they realized that they were throwaway
people as far as their nation was concerned, they turned against it.

4. My bet is the cops managed to charter buses to get their families out.
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 01:29 AM by MercutioATC
I don't see anything wrong with that. Just because you're a cop doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your family.

5. I wish i couldn't believe you
I don't want to believe you, but this is totally believable in bushies U.S. Makes one want to go postal.

6. So what's the endgame for FEMA?
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 01:38 AM by kenny blankenship
Don't send in any large quantities of water and food.
WIthdraw thousands of survivors willing to wait for transport at the superdome staging area.
Withdraw N.O.'s remaining police and fire personnel as the last of the other survivors are trucked out.
Let everyone else still at large in the city starve to death/dehydrate, die in gun battles over the last of the looted Snickers bars and Juicy-juice cartons, succumb to smoke inhalation as what's left of the city burns?

Then when the satellite photos at last show no movement or signs of life whatever, wait a prudent interval of another week or so, then move into the dead city and repair the levees and begin the pumping-out process?

8. I understand that the cops can't be effective if they're worried sick
about their families.

It just sucks all around.

9. Bottom line is it's like a warzone
And if you don't take care of the troops on the frontline, you will lose the war. I realize with everything going on in Iraq it's a difficult analogy to swallow, but right now, in that area of our country, it's true. If these people working the flooded streets can't be sure their own families are ok... how can you expect them to do their jobs?

12. Didn't you ever see that Dennis Quaid movie "The Big Easy"?
NO cops are as corrupt as they come. (Of course that movie was a fictional portrayal. I hope they're not really that corrupt.)
