FWIW, the minimum donation if you use that site is $5.

I've decided I'm going to call a contact tomorrow who raises money locally for MDA in his stores and suggest he direct some of his efforts to Hurricane relief as well. He raises a lot of cash in just a few days.

organizations like the Red Cross...remember 9 -11 when they kept a lot of the money for other things?

I'll send shoes, canned goods, witch hazel, flip-flop shoes,etc, even towels, wet naps.

6. Yeah ...

I have problems with the Red Cross myself. After a tornado here back in 80's the local Red Cross sent a *bill* for for medical treatment to a couple who had lost their home. It became a rather large controversy in the small town where this was, and it was eventually "corrected," but I've been leary ever since.

And normally in situations where it is warranted, I do send concrete things. But, in this situation, I really have no idea how to do this right now, and the stuff is needed right now. It's not like most situations where some organization just loads up a truck and delivers, or at least it isn't yet.

So, I'll give my cash now, and when an avenue for some other form of help opens, I'll go to Costco and buy a pallet of water or some such thing.
