Home Land Security, uh what the hell happened there??
What a joke, I heard FEMA telling Anderson Cooper that they were sending people in but...but...but they didn't want to put them in harms way.......WHAT!!!!! So when will they not be in "harms way"??

My heart goes out to those people down there if this is the best we can do after creating HMS and all they say it is cracked up to be. They have had 4 years to prepare for a disaster and this is what they are...A JOKE, A VERY SAD JOKE.

1. You're talking about the same bunch who...
search blonde children in airports.

Consider the intelligence level we're dealing with here.

7. Now, good ol' "Mike" Chertoff 's(no middle initial) DHS is going
to inspect passengers on the Larkspur (Marin County - as blue as it gets) to San Fran commuter ferries for explosives. WTF? Just because he's afraid to come here doesn't mean that we are terrorists...only that he cannot gather a quorum who won't make him accountable for every single thing that he has done to fuck up this country.

Talk about your bait and switch...I could have handled the NOLA, MS, AL situation better than those yokels who only want to distract us while they screw us.

I say we run babies through the x-ray machines at airports...who knows what kind of load they're packing in their diapers!

6. Saw a picture of tons of school buses on the news...
only the tops were not covered in water, you would think someone would have thunk to drive them outta there before this thing hit. And all the equipt and lots of stuff that could be used now covered in water. City managers and the god damned Mayor should have had all lanes open going out with as much equipt as could be taken out. Thousands of those that got stuck in the Super Dome could have been taken out in all the school buses that are now under water.

10. On Saturday, Katrina was predicted
to strengthen.

It was still a category 3 storm. It strengthened overnight. A lot.

County and city employees would have been the ones getting the equipment out; the governor could, I think, have called out the national guard, but didn't.

Would *you* want to be the bus driver called in Sunday morning to drive a school bus out in the giant traffic snarl that was contraflow traffic that day? I'd probably be trying to pack up what I could and get myself and my family out; the school bus drivers probably had much the same idea.

If the levees hadn't broken early Tuesday morning, after Katrina was through, the plans would have worked.

11. Yes, I see your point and it is all in retrospect of course.
Who really knew this would happen, and of course people were thinking of their families and probably a short stay outside the city. One man on the news today, said he has lived in the home that was completely distroyed for the last 30 years. So your point is taken.
Peace, MOM
