2. Yeah, life is great when domestic government funding is reduced to a
trickle.

See, W was just trying to curb government waste!

5. Yes! He had the foresight to know NOTHING catastrophic
was going to happen in America on his watch!

A regular George W. Nostradamus, that one is.

6. hey, at least Saddam won't hurt us
with his non-existent WMDs. If he did have a nuclear weapon, theoretically he might have been able to destroy New Orleans BEFORE Katrina

9. Yeah, he could have sent one towards New Orleans!
Of course, as we found out at the opening of the invasion, his arsenal of missiles were barely able to pass the Kuwaiti border. But he coulda made it to Louisiana!

14. Thank goodness we are fighting them there. Iraqis could have invaded
through the port of New orleans. It would have been awful had it happened.

4. That was well-covered and well-discussed..

..by the local press in Louisiana. The people wading water know exactly what happened. The government doesn't give a damn about them because they're poor.

Still you think the Repukes would have been smart enough to protect their own oil interests.

8. nope. And the oil companies are doing to Bush what they did to Jimmy
Carter---price gouging. Bush gave them more perks than any other President ever and they still are dicking him over.

13. oh, Bush will give them a fat tax break like he gave them a few months ago
have the Army rebuild their oil derricks and refineries damaged, even though oil companies are richer than they ever have been in history. It is sick

19. I'll bet the oil cos have big insurance payoffs coming
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 07:56 PM by librechik
no doubt they bought flood and disaster insurance, and probably have policies on workers, if any were killed (for them, not the worker's family)

Just my bet--they will also get huge assistance grants from the feds.

They can write it all of, rebuld in the same place, and wait fore the next windfall, er hurricane.

LIHOP worked before, we can expect to see it happen again and again.

7. Shout this from all high places. The whole country needs to know this.
It was only backed into by a commentator from Scientific American magazine who was interviewed by Gwen Ifill tonight on NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on PBS. The commentator mentioned the FEMA report as well as the original appropriation to the Army Corps of Engineers that was um, cut short for some unexplained reason (at least to NewsHour viewers) three years ago.

People will hear this, you can bet.

Now Bush not only has Cindy Sheehen on his ass, he will have the entire surviving population of Louisiana and Mississippi on it as well.

I want to see him travel the country on a new SS reform tour after Camp Casey and Katrina. Bring him on.

outlet should be allowed to pretend ignorance of Bush's crime against the American people.

so when Bush took 44% out, it wasn't at normal levels.
