3. Well if pro-war folks remove crosses from Camp Casey
we who support peace should not be forced to pay for their follies.

6. I totally agree, but making that happen is almost impossible.Plus
imagine the right wing demagogues spin on that, it would do More harm than good in terms of bringing people into the tent....and if we don't pay taxes it is an excuse to put all us anti war folks in jail.

4. I am trying to give as much as I can to charity so I can deduct
as much as possible. I vow to take my tax dollar out of Bush's hand in any way possible.

Cindy has placed half her tax money in an escrow account because of her opposition to paying a war tax.

17. She said it on one of the radio shows
It might have been on Randi or Ed. I also listen to Bradshow.

Best I can do to pin it down. Sorry.

15. Other things you can do. Start a home based business. One that
would need lots of travel. If you have kids, you can employ your kids and they wouldn't have to pay taxes on the money and neither would you (if it's under the $3000). There are a ton of other tax breaks you get with your own business. I could go on and on.

18. How about a PEACE business?
If I sell the promotion of peace, can I use my travel bucks to go to peace demonstrations?

22. You've got it!
Plus, when you talk to customers in restaurants, or book people or whatever, you can deduct that money. Mileage for everything you do realted to you business. Set up a web site a 1/2-100% of your isp bill comes off. Use your cell phone for business? Take that off too.

24. And all these years I have gladly paid my taxes like a good sheeple
The idea of creating a PEACE business is one all DUers should explore.

7. People did that during the Vietnam war. Didn't hear how it worked out.
1/2 the budget went to the military, so people only sent in 1/2 their taxes and told the IRS why.

Anyone know how one goes about doing this?

I pay mucho bucks to the IRS. I want to pay much less next year.

14. It takes the IRS awhile to catch up on things like this. They have 3
years. Indefinately if you did something illegal.

Here's how you do it.

If you're an employee, increase the number of dependents you have until you paying 1/2 of what you did before or you have 9 dependents. I think 10 is the magic number where you get a call from the IRS.

When you fill out your taxes and you get to the bottom line about how much you owe, you send the governments part to them and the rest goes to an escrow type account. That way, if the IRS charges you, you have this account that is set up to protest the war.

The sound of money being sucked out of our country to feed the war profiteers is intolerable to me.

Though I figure I better do several more edits before I do anything with it since it garnered so few responses.

10. In the 18th Century you only got fire protection if your house
had a medallion showing you had paid for the service.

I think the practice should be instituted for military protection.

I, for one, would gladly forgo the protection of the military such as it was on 9/11 and assume the responsibility for defending my own property.

If this is a "Christian Nation" and I am an atheist, does that mean I still have to pay taxes here?

20. We should have a choice of where OUR money goes
I'd gladly pay the same amount as long as it went to some org that fed hungry children, provided medical care for those who cannot afford it or some other cause that I agreed with. Those of us who oppose war, should not be forced to pay for it. It makes me sick to think my tax money is going to kill Iraqi civilians.
