Newsview: Clintons Hobnobbing With GOP
Aug 26, 12:06 AM (ET) - By RON FOURNIER

(AP) Former President Bill Clinton, laughs, as he and former President George H.W. Bush answer questions...
WASHINGTON (AP) - One Clinton jets to Alaska and Iraq with Republicans, and enthusiastically sponsors legislation with GOP lawmakers who impeached her husband. The other plays golf with former President Bush and accepts assignments from the current one.

All this bipartisan snuggling by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and former President Clinton has some Democrats and Republicans questioning their motives.

Is this calculated politics designed to get the former first lady ready for a presidential bid in 2008?

Or is it a pragmatic concession to the fact that Republicans control Washington, and working with them is the only way to get anything done? Do the Clintons have a bipartisan streak? Would they put their own political interests ahead of the Democratic Party? Could there be an element of this polarizing couple that simply likes to get along?

The answer is all the above. Throughout their nearly 30 years in public service, the Clintons have been driven by a complicated set of motives, never as pure as their supporters hope nor as pernicious as their detractors insist.

2. Doesn't surprise me ...
to have any chance at passing legislation while in the minority, one really needs to work with members of the majority party. I don't know of any other way to pass legislation.

3. The Clintons: Special Kind of Stupid
Here's the thing these people, blinded by their self-serving ambition, fail to see: Sell out all you want to endear your self to the Rethugs and they will stab you in the back just as quickly. The only difference is they get a special kick out of it if the Dem has sold out their Dem base in an attempt to appease the Thugs.

How many times do these dumb ass Clintons have to touch the stove to find it's hot?

4. Nothin' like a half-baked, warmed-over Clinton-bashing story....
about events that happened months ago. Sounds like some are taking the bait. I wonder why the bait was offerred by Mr. Fournier? hmmmm

5. Republicans often hobknob with each other.
"Would they put their own political interests ahead of the Democratic Party?"

Anyone who doubts the obvious answer to that rhetorical question need only look at the Clinton's support for Bush's war.
