Dowd SINGS it! "Shouldn't W worry more about body armor than body fat?"
Op-Ed Columnist
My Private Idaho
By MAUREEN DOWD
Published: August 24, 2005

W. vacationed so hard in Texas he got bushed. He needed a vacation from his vacation.

The most rested president in American history headed West yesterday to get away from his Western getaway - and the mushrooming Crawford Woodstock - and spend a couple of days at the Tamarack Resort in the rural Idaho mountains....

***

I mean, I like to exercise, but W. is psychopathic about it. He interviewed one potential Supreme Court nominee, Harvie Wilkinson III, by asking him how much he exercised....Shouldn't the president worry more about body armor than body fat?...

***

The rest of us may be fixated on the depressing tableau in Iraq, where the U.S. seems to be delivering a fundamentalist Islamic state into the dirty hands of men like Ahmad Chalabi, who conned the neocons into pushing for war, and his ally Moktada al-Sadr, the Shiite cleric who started two armed uprisings against U.S. troops. It was his militiamen who ambushed Casey Sheehan's convoy in Sadr City....(T)he president has a history of silence on America's war dead. But he finally mentioned them on Monday because it became politically useful to use them as a rationale for war - now that all the other rationales have gone up in smoke....

***

Just because the final reason the president came up with for invading Iraq - to create a democracy with freedom of religion and minority rights - has been dashed, why stop relaxing?...This president has never had to pull all-nighters or work very hard, because Daddy's friends always gave him a boost when he flamed out. When was the last time Mr. Bush saw the clock strike midnight? At these prices, though, I guess he can't afford to burn the midnight oil.

... "He needed a vacation from his vacation."

Upon reflection, how can you pick just one.

2. if it weren't *, it would be unbelievable that a president would take
a five week vacation and such a cavalier attitude while we have soldiers dying for a war of lies everyday. I still don't know how he sleeps at night. Oh, he's a sociopath. He has no conscience.:grr:

3. MoDo "sings" it all right!
She just provided several catchy soundbytes and very valuble talking points.

"Shouldn't the president worry more about body armor than body fat?"

"Just because the final reason the president came up with for invading Iraq - to create a democracy with freedom of religion and minority rights - has been dashed, why stop relaxing? W. is determined to stay the course on bike trails all over the West.

And she mentions who ambushed Casey Sheehan and his convoy in Sadr City.. and chalabi who judy(I'd rather rot in jail than give up the crooks who put me there) miller channeled in the nyt that helped lead the Country to bomb Iraq.

"The rest of us may be fixated on the depressing tableau in Iraq, where the U.S. seems to be delivering a fundamentalist Islamic state into the dirty hands of men like Ahmad Chalabi, who conned the neocons into pushing for war, and his ally Moktada al-Sadr, the Shiite cleric who started two armed uprisings against U.S. troops. 7. Ding, ding, ding, ding - light bulb goes off for me
Thank you MoDo

"It was his (Moktada al-Sadr) militiamen who ambushed Casey Sheehan's convoy in Sadr City."

A pal of Bush's friends killed Cindy Sheehan's son.

Cindy is so totally owed some answers from her employee, George W. Bush, who pulls down a paycheck from the American people.

13. I was thinking how
incredibly Cosmically Karmic that Cindy Sheehan is the one who is inspiring People to rise up and protest this hell on Earth that the bushwa LIED At Every Turn to accomplish.

Right, bush acts like we work for him when it is he who was pushed down our throats to work(sits on bike)for us.

We tried to fire him but here he still is..slackin' on the job.

the beating she's been getting from some lately.

5. My favorite passage in that brilliant column is this one:
"What twisted logic: with no W.M.D., no link to 9/11 and no democracy, now we have to keep killing people and have our kids killed because so many of our kids have been killed already? Talk about a vicious circle: the killing keeps justifying itself"

Amen, Ms. Dowd. Amen.

11. As much as I hate to admit to it, MoDo's been on quite a
"home run" streak lately.

Yes, the most telling point in the Op-ed is that statement about Moktada-al-Sadr. It never ceases to amaze me how in Chimpy's mind one time enemies, aka "terraists" become allies seemingly overnight.

But then again in a Puke's mind, I guess anything is believable.

Now most of that time is spent on exposing
their lies.

However one could certainly say I'm still

16. Hey, Georgie needs a little "me" time, ya know?
And let's not wallow in the past, let's look toward the future. George's is getting on with his life, why can't you people?

Buncha commies, that's what you are! Support our president! Honor the meaningless waste of so many lives in Afghanistan and Iraq by ending more and more lives! And don't pretend that doesn't make any sense, because the president said it, so it simply must be true!

Gee, sometimes these Bob Boudelang columns just write themselves, don't they?
