The failure to get an Iraqi constitution only works to BushCo's advantage
It prolongs the war machine which is filling their pockets and nothing else. They need wars like vampires need blood. The news is all over the corporate media and yet not one story questions whether this is a failure on BushCo's part. Hmmmmm.
1. Nope, it does not. He wanted it very, very badly; shamelessly so
just get it signed, specifics or larger issues be damned. He did not get it. One more dent in his credibility -- just watch his poll numbers on Iraq go down more (I think the Gallup poll is coming out tomorrow, they already have the direction of the country numbers posted today -- 37% think we are doing swell. The lowest since May 2004).
Reality does not matter, but the appearance of legitimacy stemming from an Iraqi constitution would have given ammo to the right wing talking heads to spew to the base.
4. Even bloodsuckers need a break from bloodsucking.
Time to nation build, so another Republican can knock it down in 10 years. I don't see that this is really a plus for Dimson. It proves what many already understood....Iraq was a fragile society and undermining an authoritarian regime at this point in time was going to play into the hands of the radical fundie Islamicists....if it didn't lead to a complete Balkanization of the Iraqi state.
Bush has so much to be proud of in his 3 short years of nation breaking....he's managed to take a state that was in bad shape and make it immeasurably worse. It takes a special kind of moron to pull this off.
